Hl and D20Pro

How many people use D20pro, I am looking at using it to run a few games but some of my players are not very computer user smart, they need a very simple program that does not require messing with. I would do mainly 4E d&d plus a few others & I like the fact that we can just upload characters from HL into it. But I thought that to run 4E it had to have some files messed with and other things done. I would not mind being able to use it for system like savage worlds, cortex, CoC, M&M ect but I do not think D20pro supports everything that HL runs.
So I am looking for some help from everybody to let me know if its possible, easy to use, and reliablity of D20pro.

Thanks

It's set up for 3.5 by default. You need to hit the d20pro wiki and download the adjusted rulesets for the system you want (pathfinder, 4e, etc...) and replace the current ones. You can check out the d20pro 4E survival guide on their wiki for more info!

Honestly speaking, I prefer Maptool as far as field and such goes because it, unlike d20pro, has a field of view setting, dynamic FoW, etc... however, the big difference is in that d20pro is designed to, and does a better job of, cover combat and the rules, while Maptool is better just for navigating a map.

If you're looking to speed up your online RP combat wise and be able to easily import from HeroLabs, d20pro is your thing. Otherwise, if it's just for location referance, etc... you might like Maptool more.

The only problems I've had with importing HeroLabs characters into d20pro is that it doesn't seem to like to do the spells, so I wind up having to sit there and enter all of a character's spells manually.

There's another one that's still in Alpha testing called Epic Table. They had a booth at this year's GenCon and it looks to have nearly all the features of both Maptool AND d20pro, so I'm excited about it and plan to snag it whenever it's released!
