New member
Greetings,

I emailed tech support as suggested, however, I have a game tonight, and was looking to see if anyone else had experienced the same situation...

I just finished downloading the new update, and was installing it (which was taking a long time and I got an error message:

HeroLab.exe has encountered an error and needs to close.

Please email a DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WERE DOING, in as much detail as possible, along with this message, to support@wolflair.com. PLEASE NOTE: Unless you tell us what you were doing, we won't have enough information to fix this problem!

Right click and choose "Copy to Clipboard" to copy these details:

C:\Program Files\HeroLab\HeroLab.exe
3.6g 231
ACCESS VIOLATION
Address: 0x0041fd89
Type: bad read
major: 5, minor: 1, build: 2600, platform: 2, version: Service Pack 3, spmaj: 3, spmin: 0, suitemask: 00000300, type: 1

Or you can find them here:

C:\DOCUME~1\Sean\LOCALS~1\Temp\lwderror408.txt

I have a game tonight and cant start the program anymore - so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

There've been similar errors in the past, most of which solved themselves before Colen could get to them. Honestly, if it's a matter of expediency, I'd say try uninstalling and reinstalling. Since it's the same computer, re-authorization will be a snap if it doesn't just do it automatically.

You probably do NOT need to UNinstall. Simply run the install again and any file that got stuffed up during the failed install will most likely be overwritten properly with the correct new file. Only try the uninstall, followed by a new install, if the preceding steps don't fix the problem.

If you downloaded and installed an update from within Hero Lab, you can find the installer in the "download" folder beneath where you installed the product. Alternately, you can download it again from our website, just in case you're concerned the installer itself got corrupted.

Hope this helps...
