Hero Lab on Android

Would people who own an Android actually purchase an additional license though? I am sure many of you who own an Android would love Hero Lab as it is pretty amazing on iOS. I think the reality is why would developers spend the money on Android when they can make more money off of users who own iOS devices. I hope they are working to bring Shadowrun and many other games to the iOS platform now that Pathfinder has been out for awhile.
There are roughly ten times as many Android devices as iPads. That's why developers focus on Android.

That's worldwide, including impoverished countries with 95% or higher Android marketshare. In the developed countries where people are more likely to play RPGs, the purchase rate on Android is similar to that on iOS. Also, the fact that Android devices outnumber iOS by more than 5 to 1, allows sellers to make it up in volume.

The thing is... This app is very different then other apps. It's not a mass market app, it is a targeted app for a very specific audience. All these articles and studies are meaningless when talking about a Hero lab app.
And the Hero Lab app is FREE! What we're paying for is the content from the different sourcebooks.

I have 3 Android tablets, and I will not buy a Apple tablet! So I patiently wait for LW to develop HL for Android.

well I'm back to developing my App (just pushed an update to google play tonight, amazon will get there's in the next day or so once I get that account sorted again)

there is obviously still a need for an official app, but I will keep pushing towards a better community solution until there is an official one.

@Philderbeast: Today I wanted to try the App, but when I press the SD Card button nothing happened. Whats wrong? Do I Need a Special Android Version?

you shouldn't,

In settings > Applications find the app and make sure it has the storage permission. This is the most likely cause of the issue, if not send me a Pm and I'll work with you to get it sorted out.

Same here. I have 3: The one my brother gave me which was given to developers prior to any Android tabs being released, a Samsung 10.4 Note and now a Nexus 9.

To use it fully functionally you have to dedicate a license to your Ipad.

I think it'd be interesting for Lone Wolf to compare their internal sales figures for the ipad to the level of interest continuously displayed here for an Android version. I'm an AAPL shareholder, but not an Apple user and it seems like the vast majority of tablet users in this hobby are going to be android users. Market share is increasing for android, not Apple.

No promises on when or even if we will have an Android option but it just so happens we are currently looking into the types of devices the majority of gamers are using at this time. ;)

And maybe the software frameworks which are cross-platform that support those different devices (and likely future devices too)?

Why not just ask LW to invite an RPG AI system that reads your mind why your at it. Pretty much "works" on all OS platforms and all future devices is a concept that if LW invented would make them "Billions" of dollars. :) :D

I would say the market has shifted in such a different direction that at this stage I'd be attempting a complete re-build in a cloud based direction. Not because it's needed right now, but because the shift in end-user expectations is going to start moving significantly quicker. Getting ahead of that change now will ensure Hero Labs remains the market leading character builder for years to come. There's a number of people out there now starting to create tools to compete with Hero Labs but focusing on products that will be web enabled.

Create a cloud based service that integrates flawlessly with Realm Works and provides support for all of current market leading platforms. Have a web portal that gives players and DMs access to all of the character sheets related to a campaign at any time. Allow full network sync support during live games. Obviously, full phone, tablet, web, PC support is necessary.

I've said it before... but imagine a world where I as the DM can see changes happening to my players happening in real time. Changes to their prepared spells, equipped armor and weapons, level up changes, uses of restricted abilities.

Hell, integrate it directly into the Realm Works Content Market and make it simple and attractive for content owners to sell content on the tool, for a fee of course.

Take Hero Labs to the next level.
