Hero Lab -> Fantasy Grounds Character Converter

It's possible that your browser didn't allow the download. Is there someway you can check your security settings. It's just a text file, so it's not likely to be flagged as a virus.

For now, I'll put in another textarea with the converted text so you can copy/paste into a new document.

Give me a few minutes to put that functionality back in.

Ah sorry I was out all day and just got back. I still get no response from the button, not even an error message. I'm pretty sure the security settings aren't blocking anything.

What OS and browser are you using?

I've tried Windows 10/Chrome and Mac/Chrome & Safari.

Also, can you send me the .por or .xml file you're trying to convert?

I'd also ask if you have Javascript enabled, but that seems a stretch, since almost every site on the Internet utilizes it.

I think I know what's wrong. You're very likely pasting invalid XML.

If you know how to use the built-in debugging tools (Called developer tools), you can see any error messages in the console window.

Boomer

Ok, I've put in logic to catch if it finds invalid XML, and a dialog box will pop up telling you that.

(For the curious, a simple try/catch was used)

Added spell and pact slots.

Still doesn't do spells, I may work on that next.

What would you like to see this do that it currently doesn't?

I'd appreciate input as to what I should prioritize.

Cantrips populating, along with casting time, range, duration and components.

I'll get to spells next week.

All spells, with spell descriptions (yup, spell descriptions get dumped from the HL custom output)

Note, this is just basic spell stuff like duration, casting time, level, etc.

It does not yet configure attacks, and probably won't.

Alright, so a few days ago I tried this again. Once with a normal build and then some more with some not so normal builds. The major problem I had was that the XML was coming up as invalid. My mistake was that when I exported the XML, Hero Lab opened up Microsoft Explorer (or I guess it's Edge now) and I copypasted it from there. Not a good idea. I opened it in Notepad++ and then copypasted it and it worked.

From a non coders perspective, this is actually usable. Equipment doesn't carry over but most of the important abilities do. So this converter is a very useful time saver and my only regret was not remembering this thread sooner.

Thanks for your hard work.

I'm glad somebody's able to use it. I haven't put any work into it in a very long time, as I quite playing RPG's due to being burned out.

I'm sure I'll get back to it after the Unity version of Fantasy Grounds comes out.

I am sure this would help alot of people. I wonder if there is an easy way to advertise this to the fantasy grounds forums. I will look into this.
