Only recently purchased HeroLab and have been building my campaign for 3.5 D&D. I'll just add to this post when I can't find what I'm looking for in the forums (though I imagine it's there and I don't know what to refer to)

Here's a few things I would like to do but would like some assistance with:
Create a Regional Trait that gives the Feat Brew Potion. Gives a bonus of +4 to the choice of 2 Knowledge skills (preferably only the choice of Nature, Religion, or Arcana) and renders the chosen into Class Skills.

I had many more questions about creating Traits/Races/Feats but found many were pointless and overly complex.

The d20 system is more difficult to create things in then say, Pathfinder, but its not impossible.

As for the Home Brew feat, someone else has just done that one. Check through the D20 forum for it. Also have you downloaded any of the user community content? it can be obtained from my the 2 places listed in my tag line below. D20 has had a lot of the content created for the d20 system.

Wow, totally awesome that you have this! I do have a question though..I found a Skill called Craft Tinkering and can't find what Source it came from? So I'm not entirely sure what book to look in to find it.

all the user created content is added as a single file, so theres no need to piece meal it all together. we tried that process a while back and it became just too difficult to maintain and load. Just follow the steps in the instruction PDF and you should be able to load it in. As we come out with new version we'll post them here and make them available in the same place. But if your system is set up correctly, it should automatically detect the new version. the only issue is that you wont see the small red ! next to the file to indicate that it is a new download like the other files from LW do. So if you see a new user content version is out, just click on the link and let it load up.

I think the Craft Tinkering is from the Gnomish Tinker class from Dragonlance, but not 100% sure of that.

Is there a way to add Swim speed to a Trait?
I'd also like to add the Crocodile special ability to Hold Breath..

I found this on forums...but..slightly confused.

~ Use our value field as the speed at which we can swim
field[livename].text = field[name].text & " (" & field[Value].value & " feet)"

Is the unique ID "xSwim"? and if so, where do I place it? In [livename] or [name]?
And if I want the swim speed to be say, 20 feet, I place "20" in [Value]?

On your trait, bootstrap the xSwim thing. Click on the "tags" button to the right of the bootstrap, and then enter Value and WHATEVER#.

You can bootstrap the Hold Breath to the trait as well.

A note, Value.10 and Value.5 tags do not currently exist, so for those swim speeds you'll need to set the field value instead.

So I'm attempting to add the bootstrap.
I create the bootstrap, choose xSwim as the Thing
I put Value in the GroupID and then Swim20 in the TagID

When I do this it tells me I have an Undefined Tag 'Value.Swim20' referenced in bootstrap

Hehe. Oops. Figured it out.

I was wondering if anyone knew why when I save a PDF of the Standard character sheet, my weapons show in the list of Charges? I have two Daggers that show 0/1 charges?

I believe that is due to the fact that daggers can be thrown.

So, if you've thrown one at a foe during combat and he ran away with the dagger still stuck in him or you weren't able to later find the dagger that missed & landed "somewhere" in the bushes or simply to be a method to keep track (by checking it off) in a multi-round combat that you've thrown one(or both) and don't have it(them) available for melee attacks.

[new addition] Now I do think that since you have two, presumably generic, daggers those should appear on the sheet as one line item: Dagger with a quantity of 0/2 (denoting that neither have been thrown/lost/used). Now, if you had also had a magical dagger (with or without special traits) then that should appear as a separate line item on the character sheet with a quantity of 0/1.

Just a **bump** to bring attention to the "proper display of quantity" paragraph I added to my last response in the hopes it can be corrected before Matias' next release happens. ;)
