Favored Classes Not Required?

I'm in a game where we have the option of gaining some other benefits if we do not use a favored class option. I noticed in the Configure Hero window there's a check box for "Favored Classes Not Required," and I checked it, but it doesn't seem to actually do anything . . . Even if I leave "Favored Class" set to -No Selection- the program defaults to +1 Skill Point.

Is this a mechanic that's been offered but isn't actually implemented anywhere?

If you move your mouse over the options, you'll get a description of them. The description for this option is "If selected, any un-selected favored classes will not give errors. For example, this would allow a Half-Elf to wait a few levels before deciding which class their second favored class will be."

As a work around you can go to the Personal tab and set a permanent adjustment of -1 skill points per level
(if you multiclass you might need to add a second permanent adjustment to Total skill points)

another option might be to add the new ability as a favoured class option using the editor.
This is a pretty easy option as you can do a New (Copy) on +1 Hit Point Thing. Then simply remove the script and give a new name and Unique ID. Do a CTRL-R or restart HL and you will see this new option that does well "nothing". :D

Alternatively, just select a class which isn't your class as your favored class. Then you just don't get any benefits from it.

Cool - thanks for the clarification (Mathias) and the suggestions (everyone else). Just a matter of the option not doing what I thought it did then.
