M&M 3rd ed. Energy Absorption Bug

Energy Absorption doesn't seem to adopt base trait cost properly, treating it like a -1 Flaw.

I attempted to build it here, but the Strength came out costing 1p/rank.

I suspect EA is still coded like it was in 2e. 3e EA is Trait + Reaction - Fades, which works out to the same base cost of the affected Trait before adding more modifiers. You can still build it like that using Enhanced Trait as a workaround, but because of that I assume it wouldn't be difficult to fix EA.

In my copy of DC Adventures it lists the cost as "base trait -1", which should be 1/rank for ability scores. Was this specifically errata'd to "base trait", or are you extrapolating from the costs of the base powers?

I've got both DCA and the M&M Heroes Handbook in PDF and in the Enhanced Trait descriptions (p96 and p106 respectively) I'm not seeing any indication of that -1.

I tried to do Absorption to a 3pt trait (SuperSpeed) and it can up with 2.5/rank. But the math came out to the be 2. Something is fishy in denmark.
