Elven Chain +1

I want to equip elven chain +1 on a rogue. I can find elven chain, but I cannot edit it to make it +1. I can create mithral chainmail +1 as custom armor. It has the same stats as elven chain except Hero Lab says my rogue is not proficient with medium armor. The Core Rulebook says that elven chain counts as one armor class lighter in all ways including proficiency. I used the Adjust tab to give the rogue medium armor proficiency, but this is a workaround instead of a fix. Does Hero Lab correctly support elven chain +1?

From what HL has said Elven Chain is a "Specific" item and specific items can't be edited or changed. So you can't make a suit of elven chain +1. I am not saying this is right or wrong but what they have said.

Now then using the editor you can do this. Or use the editor to make a version of Elven chain that CAN be made in to lots of different magic items. You can see THIS thread for LW's answer and a way to do it in the editor.

I brought this up here, I wonder if the heard from Paizo.
As it was not changed I assume no but I am assuming. :p

Anyways I meant to pull out my version of the Dragonhide plate, Dwarven Plate, and Elven Chain out of my house rules data set and make a small addon (.user) that people can download. But then I fell asleep last night. :(

Will see what I can get done tonight...

Ironically, Elven Chain USED to have a seperate entry in HeroLab that allowed you to enchant it (and even make it out of Mithril - probably an oversight, but sure, why not? :)), but it seems to have disappeared in the last dataset update or two (7.6 or 7.7).

I don't believe that is correct, d20Maverick. Are you sure you didn't somehow get ShadowChemosh's version and lose it within that time frame?

At this point, I'm sure that HeroLab is working, and that's about it. :D

If the programmers say that it isn't in there, I'm willing to accept that. I did have it at one point because I have several characters using them that now give me errors about the armor not existing, but I tend to load everything plus the kitchen sink when I build a character, so it could very easily have been in one of ShadowChemosh's files that are currently moved into a secondary folder. :)

Yea their was never a version in HL officially. I can confirm that only my "players" had access to special version until just a few days ago when I released the above.

So maybe it was something he got from someone else or something. A version did get rolled into the "Community Bestiary" by Frumple a few versions ago. That's the only places I know about it.

That's probably where it came from. When we had problems with HL on everything earlier than Win7 a couple of weeks ago, I moved all of my .user files into a subdirectory, and that seems to be about the same time the errors began occurring. It's probably from the Community Bestiary, so I'll reload that one and take a gander. Thanks for the tips!

Looks like somewhere along the way HL enabled +1 Elven Chain.

Either from that SKR quote for the the PFS "Named Item" FAQ that said non-magical named items can be enhanced (Elven Chain isn't magical)

So Shadow, your item is now redundant?

We need to concentrate on all the books due in the next two months. Rebuilding EVERY specific armor and weapon to be upgradable isn't a project we can take on at the moment.

Correct it will be eventually but HL still currently does not allow for upgrading Elven Chain, Mithrial Shirt, Dwarven Plate, or Dragonhide armor. I think what your seeing is the ones I added to the Community Bestiary and the Players Pack.

I just checked my "CORE" data set that has no .user files and I can't find a upgradable elven chain or a way to make elven chain +1....

I think what your seeing is the ones I added to the Community Bestiary and the Players Pack.

I see two:
PFRPG_PlayerPack_Equipment.user: <thing id="muElvenCha" name="Elven Chain" ...This version of elven chain is for making magic versions of elven chain."
PFRPG_ShadowChemosh_SpecificArmor.user: <thing id="mS2ElvChai" name="Elven Chain"

Then the third one:
iElvenChn

So there are two provided via the community pack, which confused me.

Sigh ;-)

PFRPG_ShadowChemosh_SpecificArmor.user: <thing id="mS2ElvChai" name="Elven Chain"
This one you could most likely remove if you have the player pack. I put that one out specifically for those that just wanted the armors only. Also it works as a nice "example" for people to start from also. Otherwise the armors where also put into the Player Pack as its a very common thing for players to need actually. :)
