Which would be better to use a single .user file which has everything you create or should you use a multi file approach.?
 
Depends on the amount of content - for large amounts, say a hardcover sourcebook in Pathfinder or Shadowrun, I'll generally have one .user file for each editor tab, to make it easier to find the things I've created, but for a smaller book, maintaining so many files becomes a hassle, and it all just goes in one, maybe two files.
