(Drop Dead Studios) Spheres of Power: Official Support Thread

I have chosen the sub-sphere specialization tactician, but it seems that I don't get the +1 CL Divination increase.

This is working in my current build, though I didn't do anything specific to address it.

I am finally getting to the home stretch for the Shapeshifter's Handbook. Just have the ART's, items, and some bugfixes left to do. Hoping to be able to finish the blasted thing this weekend.

Maybe it is only the selection dialog, which has this problem. Read Omens is not considered a valid choice there, but once chosen, HL doesn't complain.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I need to have prereqs check the sphere-specific caster level before the "general" caster level. Putting that on the list for 1.19.

EDIT: This is now fixed in my current build.

Progress Report: The Shapeshifter's Handbook is now feature-complete. Base update 1.19 is almost ready but is still erupting with bugs every time I look at it sideways. Aiming for a release this weekend.

Update Time!

1.19 has dropped for the base package, and there's an additional update for every existing splatbook as well.

For you guys, the major feature of this update is the new UI stuff I previewed a few pages back. That means:

  • A new Sphere Abilities tab that tracks your basic spherecasting information
  • An additional tab for each sphere your character possesses
  • A section on the Alteration tab where you can create and customize an unlimited number of Shapeshift effects, and turn them on or off

For me, it means a bunch of stuff I've changed under the hood to make future handbooks faster and easier to create. No more creating an extra custom class special for every single talent I write!

One note: On your existing characters, you'll want to remove everything from the old "Magic Talents" and "Alteration Form/Traits" tabs, and re-add them in the new tabs. The old tabs now throw error messages that will nag you to do this, and they'll disappear once you've taken everything out of them.

Oh, and one more thing: The Shapeshifter's Handbook is going to require the Pathfinder Pack in order to function (because of the Warshifter archetype, which is a martial initiator and therefore needs Path of War). Unfortunately I could not find a graceful way to degrade in its absence. If you're planning to get the Shapeshifter's Handbook, make sure you install the Pathfinder Pack first - even if you don't plan to make a Warshifter.

Getting an error after having updated everything.

'cSSTheSigh' - Undefined tag 'PackHelper.FreePower' referenced in bootstrap.

Also telekinetic handbook doesn't have a 2017 update, so maybe this is the reason for said error?

Did you update anything else besides SoP? I don't recognize that thingid 'cSSTheSigh'.

The 'PackHelper' tag group, I believe, is from the Pathfinder Pack.

I just removed that tag from the community Pack with v1.08 because LW added the Helper.Free tag to do the same thing officially.

Sorry TheIronGolem I didn't think many people would be using that tag. Safer to now move to the Helper.Free tag from LW. :(

No apologies necessary; I wasn't using that tag anywhere in SoP (I avoid creating new dependencies whenever possible, which is an ironic thing for me to say right after the Warshifter thing). I also just updated the Pathfinder Pack to 1.08 on my SoP development directory and haven't had a problem. I think chaoscowboy has another package that is using the deleted tag?

It's not related to your error, but good catch on this anyway. I messed up something with the update file. Should be fixed now.

Magic Talent Tab

I am having problems removing the Magic Talent Tab. I got a character with the Destruction Sphere and the tab won't go away. Even worse when I create a character from scratch and pick the Destruction Sphere the 'Magic Talent' Tab reappears.

I quite enjoy the new interface but for some reason this pro. is wonky. The magic tab wont disappear for the ones in red.

Oops. Looks like I missed some instances of bonus talents being bootstrapped to the old configurable. I'll have a fix for that soon. If anyone else finds more like these, please let me know here in this thread.

EDIT: Oh, man, there's a ton of them. Could have sworn I'd gotten rid of them before. Time to carry out a Tag Exterminatus...

Wish I knew what was using it then arrg.

This might help you track it down:

Open a new file in the editor. Create a new thing (doesn't matter what, any tab will do). Hit the Bootstaps button on the right side of the screen. On the popup window, hit "Click to add a new bootstrap". Then copy/paste or type that thingid into the textbox. If that thingid is valid, you'll see the "<Choose thing!>" text replaced with the name of the thing that has that ID. That should at least give you a clue as to where it comes from.

EDIT: Oh, I see you already found it.

Ok so I booted it up after getting everything (I think) fixed and running and now I'm a tad confused. Do I use magic talents tab or sphere abilities tab and why are both showing up? I ask cause the Sphere Abilities tab says I have 3 talents as a cleric archetype. And the other says 5.

Also not getting the automatic death or life sphere from cleric either. Or the domain sphere... not sure how that works in hero lab.

EDIT: Looks like I got life for free but not death, as I'm an evil cleric of cyric with this build.

As I mentioned in this post, the Magic Talents tab is deprecated. Remove any Talents, Drawbacks, Boons, or Casting Traditions from it, and it will disappear (You'll want to re-add those things on the new Sphere Abilities tab).

If there are things on the Magic Talents tab that you can't remove because they don't have delete buttons, that is because they are being automatically added by something else on your character (like when a class or archetype gives you certain talents as bonus talents). For that you'll need to wait until I can fix those things that are bootstrapping the talents into the old tab. I expect to get that done today.

Same goes for the "Alteration Form/Traits" tab, if you have that. Use the new tool on the Alteration tab to create your Shapeshift effects from now on.

Bugs:

* I can't choose for Limited Restoration, if cure or restore is affected.
* I removed both Destruction and Telekinesis sphere from the Sphere Abilities tab, which caused the Magic Talents tab to disappear. But readding those spheres caused the Magic Talent tab to reappear, showing both the base abilities of the sphere. Same goes for Alteration, Dark, Destruction: Admixture, Divination, Light, Easy Focus, Focus Casting and Magical Signs. Although the latter three originate from my racial caster, so that might another bug. Which brings me to:
* Racial caster hit dice seem to be broken right now. The fixed magic talents aren't fixed anymore, instead I could delete them from the magic talents tab. I suppose this thread needs an update.
* Destruction sphere doesn't show the increased damage cost anymore for 1 SP. Which would be nice to see in addition to the usual damage on the char sheet. Explosive Orb would be nice to include the same variant for, if you have Orb Expert. Speaking of which, does it really work? I have the feeling that the DC isn't increased at least.
