Drawback: Reduced Range

So I'm getting ready for this Saturday's game and noticed in the Ultimate Power Errata the following change to the Power Drawback: Reduced Range which currently isn't being reflected in the software. :o

page 108 — Reduced Range: Change the description to the following:
This drawback reduces the maximum range of a ranged effect, which is normally (rank x 100) feet. For –1 point, it reduces
maximum range to (rank x 50) feet, the same as throwing range. For –2 points, it reduces maximum range to (rank x 25)
feet. A greater reduction should be handled by making the effect touch range, possibly with some measure of the
Extended Reach feat, if necessary.

Was there a retraction of that Errata that I don't know about? As you might expect, this will be causing me to do some reworking. :(

That has to be a typo in the Ultimate Power Errata. ;) Pages 69 & 150 of M&M clearly state the range of a power is normally rank x 10 feet. So the above should be rank x 5 not 50 and rank x 2.5 not 25.

No... I think that's right. They're talking about maximum range, i.e. 10 increments. Each increment is normally rank x 10, but the maxiumum range is normal rank x 100. Since you're not reducing the size of the range increments, you still take penalties by the increments (-2 per increment, I think), but you're limited to 5 increments or 2.5 depending on the level of drawback.

:o Opps, I was confusing max range with range increment in my last comment. So please disregard it.

However, the original commentary about the UP Errata defining the Power Drawback: Reduced Range differently from how the software is doing it is still valid. :) In other words, if you had a rank 5 power the range increment would be 50 feet and max range 500 feet. The software has the drawback limiting your max range to either 250 or 100 ft but the UP Errata would have it be 250 feet or 125 feet. Small difference but if you do it with a rank 10 power it the numbers are 500/200 and 500/250. 5 or 10 extra hexes(squares) can make quite a difference in a combat.

This is fixed in the next release - apologies for the delay. The upcoming HL 3.6b has some important bug fixes, so we're waiting until its release to do most game system updates.

LOL No need to apologize. I thought that might be the case.

I was hoping you'd tip your hand and tell us the E.T.R., Expected Time of Release, for that update. ;)

Some of us might be having a big game this Memorial Day Weekend. No rush though. Nope, don't mind a bit. Won't catch me asking "is it done yet?" Nope, nosireebob, not me. I mean, if it's done...say....sometime on Friday that would be fantastic and probably make more than a few people happy but no need to hurry. None at all. Always better to have it late & right than rushed and needing fixes. That's what I always say. Yup, take your time. We'll be here. Right here...waiting....patiently.....d20 and figures and hex map all set with the holiday snackage & drinks right over there *points* but you go ahead and take your time. Yup, not like anyone is anxiously awaiting it. So don't let anyone bully you into releasing it before you're ready, like on Friday, for instance. ;)

Keep up the good work,
Nigel Fogg aka The Wayfarer.
