Do spells auto adjust stats when in use?

I am new to hero lab and currently play pathfinder. When i check an individual spell for use in play, do the stats auto adjust in incoreporate the spell? i'm playing an alchemist and the mutagens auto adjust but when clicking a spell (extract) nothing happens to the stats. Is this the correct design or is it suppose to auto adjust? Thanks
