It sounds like the data files have been 'Locked'. Open one in ABCreator,
and select 'Information' from the Edit menu; if the Locked checkbox is
ticked, then the files are, well, locked.
Did you previously lock the files on a different computer, or did you take
them over from someone else? (Your comment imply that you did...) If so,
you'll need to contact the data file author to have them unlocked. If
that's not possible, and you need to unlock them in the future, let us know
and I'll see what we can do.

I did take them over from the original creator. He did give me the password
for the datadef file. I'll contact him and ask if he can open them up. Will
he be able to do that and preserve my additions or will he only be able to
do it with his last version?
How does the individual computer affect the files? I use several at
different times.
