Subject: Options for Items?

Hi all, for those that don't play Warhammer, there is an item called 'Gaze
of the Gods' which has the potential to turn it's bearer into a Chaos
Spawn (basically a mindless mutated monster). I want the user to have the
option to attach the Chaos Spawn stat line either to the unit or to the
item itself (with the uadd attribute?) if they want, but to not have to if
they don't want it.

Is there any way to make an 'option' for an item, so that the user can
'check' somehow whether or not they want the spawn statline to show up?

Thanks,
Mark

Assuming you're talking about Epic 2nd Edition, I think I can help (it was
actually the game that got me into stuff like this :).

Which weapons are you talking about? If I recall correctly, most units just
had the weapon stats incorporated into their stat lines, so the weapon
details can just be stats for the unit. Are you just wanting to do
titan-based weapons, and have them display in the same way as 'normal' unit
weapons?

There is no way to have the spawn statline attached to the item, and be
selectable by the user, without having one 'chaos spawn (w/ stats)' item
and one 'chaos spawn (no stats)' item.

What you could do would be to have the item not include the unit, but give
it a tweak that was 'include spawn stats'. Then you would make an option
with all the spawn stats, powers, etc in the option notes, and give that
tweak the 'zfut:<option id>' attribute, so the chaos spawn stats would be
output once at the end of the roster, regardless of how many characters had
'gaze of the gods'. Or you could just make the tweak add the Spawn stats to
the item, if selected. Regardless, a tweak would probably be the best way
to do it.

Hope this helps.

When I click on View, Definition info I get: "Fixed row count must be less

I thought I had v2.2b but I guess I don't but when I tried to download it, I

v2.2c is the latest version... you should definitely download and install
that, it will most likely clear up any problems you are having with using
various datafiles.

I've been trying for about a week to reach someone at WolfLair in
order to get an account set up so I can publish the new files. I've
been using the 'support' address. Figured I'd post here on the off-
chance that someone fomr WolfLair is watching here that might be
able to prod the right folks. ;-)

I assume you're referring to ABCreator? Can you upload the definition file
you're having issues with to the files section of this group?

It seems that we're having server or problems of some sort; this happens
sometimes, it usually clears itself up. Try again in a few hours.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We've had a busy few weeks (we spent a week at Origins 2003, then 4th of
July weekend...), so unfortunately we've a bit of an email backlog to deal
with (the yahoo groups download problems didn't help). Generally we give a
reply within a few days, but we're a very small company, so please give us
some latitude when the occasional snowstorm hits. :)

Apologies to all who're waiting on replies from support (I know there's at
least one other of you); we'll do our best to get the issues resolved ASAP.

I'm trying to set up rules for units within a datafile such that if a unit of
type X is chosen, then units of type Y are no longer legal, and vice-verse.
I thought I could do it with the 'reqd' external attribute, but that didn't

other systems such that I could just go look it up...*sigh*

Help anyone?

There are several ways you could do it. Let's assume unit X has type 'X'
and unit Y has type 'Y'.

umax:0u-istype=X

On unit Y will allow a maximum of 0 unit Ys when type X (and thus unit X)
is present.

Or you could use trat:

trat:Y@0u:X@1u

Either of these ways should work fine.

I am.

Let me give and example of how I want it to look (I hope it align
properly):

Type Move Weapon Range Attack dice To hit Modifier
Guardian 10cm Shuriken 50cm 1 5+ -
(This is easy enough to do)

War walker 25cm Lascannon 75cm 1 5+ -2
Scatter l 25cm 3 5+ -

Here lies the problem: I can't figure out how to get a unit to have
more than one weaponstatline, and I don't want a fixed number as
units can have 0-4 (?) weapons and I hope that if I can get this
working, I can use the sme solution to titan weapons.

Hope that made it clearer.

From: Rob Bowes <rob@wolflair.com>
Subject: New Data File Hosting Site

A couple weeks ago, yahoogroups introduced changes in its service that
significantly impacted downloads of data files hosted on yahoogroups.
Unfortunately, yahoogroups never notified anyone about the changes, so it
caught us all by surprise.

Now for the good news. A new data file hosting site has been established by
an avid user. [Thanks Robert!!] The URL is www.datafilesrus.com. All data
file authors who are currently hosting data files on yahoogroups should now
switch to using this new site.

To ensure that net ne'er-do-wells don't abuse the site, upload capabilities
are restricted to those with data file authoring accounts. We've
coordinated with site creator to synchronize author logins. This means that
all authors of Army Builder and/or Card Vault data files will automatically
have the identical login name and password on datafilesrus.com.

To use the new site, authors will see a login link at the bottom of the
main page. You'll be prompted to enter the product, login name, and
password. Once logged in, you can upload your data files, along with a
brief description, much like yahoogroups. Once you've uploaded your files,
log into your authoring account as normal and simply specify the URL on
datafilesrus instead of yahoogroups. The download path will either be
www.datafilesrus.com/ab/filename.ext or www.datafilesrus.com/cv/filename.ext.

For end-users, this change should be transparent when using the Locate File
mechanism of either product. The only difference should be that the
download failures now introduced by yahoogroups will go away. :-) End-users
can retrieve files from this site if they wish. On the main page, there are
links to get the list of downloads for each product. Retrieving files does
NOT require a login.

Note that a number of data files for Card Vault have already been migrated
to the new site. However, no data files for Army Builder have been migrated
yet.

Thanks, Rob

How will this affect new authors? Will someone with admin rights have to set
