Actually just used Rob's suggestion. Worked like a charm, all the
files are in one now.

They've been there from the first day I finished them. I come here
first and update the file in the download section everytime I finish
a new army list. Haven't you been getting the auto-messages?
Anyway, the 2nd edition AB file is there and now includes Orks,
Tyranids, Imperial Guard, Space Marines (general), Ultramarines,
Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Assassins, and the
Inquisition. All in one file ready for downloading and importing.

Subject: 2nd edition rules for Inquisition, Squats, and Necrons
Does anyone know if there was ever any even semi-official rules
released concerning the rest of the Inquisition? All I have in the
file are Grey Knights so I hid it except as an ally army (not enough
coices to ever be an army of its own). Please let me know if anyone
has any clues on this.
Also, does anyone know if there were any 2nd edition rules released
for either Squats or Necrons? If it was a White Dwarf, please
reference me the number so that I may bid on and buy it so I can
build files for them. I have the files from the Battlebible but the
Battlebible is littered with house rules and for now all I want to do
is the official stuff. Thanks!

I've been getting them for *this* group, but not for ab-files, which is
totally different, but confusingly similar in some ways
ab-files is just for announcements about new versions of datafiles, etc.
It has 5-6 times as many members as this one too

Please stick with the ".ab" extension. The problem is with Netscape and
downloading the files. There is a prominent explanation of how to deal with
this on the Data Files pages on the Wolf Lair site. It would be optimal if
this message could be placed somewhere on AB-Files that it would stand out
and be useful for people.
The main reason for staying away from ".zip" files is that even MORE people
open the zip files and then get confused, since they don't bother reading
the instructions about importing the files. At least, with the ".ab"
extension, the problem is more readily sorted out and only Netscape users
are effected, both of which help to reduce the incidence level.
Thanks, Rob

Oh! Hmm, in that case, full permission is granted.
Use my description etc. Hell, I wrote these files for
2nd edition gamers (and me), so I definitely want them
to benefit from them! What's the addy for adding
ab-files group? If it's just announcements, then how
do you plan to upload files to them?

Subject: Overriding the "Must" External Attribute with an Option(?)
Is there any way to override the "must" external
attribute of a unit by selecting an option? Right now
what I have set up is that Chaos Terminators "must"
have right and left arm weapons (to remind people to
assign them). But Slaaneshi Termis can have either
Noise Marine weapons or Termi Weapons. But the Noise
Marine weapons take up two hands (except the Doom
Siren) and they may only be given one category, so I
have to be able to deselect the "must" external
attribute on the Terminators when they are given Noise
Marine weapons (by using the Noise Marine weapon
option) to eliminate the neccessity of taking a
useless HtH weapon for the Termis (as with Noise
Marine weapons taking up two hands they cannot use the
HtH weapons). BTW, these are for the 2nd edition
rules systems, so please no one chime in on how it
works in 3rd (the specifics are unknown to me about
3rd and may remain so
)
In a similar vein, is it possible to assign more than
one category using the catg command to units? It
seems to be what the catg command is there for, but it
does not allow me to assign extra categories to
anything.
Thanks.

The way AB works is that it is the basic save/modified save. Since a Man-at-arms comes with LA, his "basic save" is 6, when you add a shield it drops to 5. Special mods like +1 in hth combat or not being able to use a shield in HTH are listed on the print-out.

Use the -when qualifier. For example:
must:categ=Skrill@max=2-when=Gibbon
Will mean the rule is only applied when the unit has the type "Gibbon".

Just use it more than once. I.e.:
catg
ne
catg:two
catg:three
Or whatever the syntax is.

Armybuilder isn't liking this. When I have an option already
assigned to a category (for example, Option A (lightning claws) is
assigned category "RightArmWp") and I try to specify an additional
category (by typing catg:LeftArmWep to make Lightning Claws fulfill
both requirements) the program won't let me save the change. It
tells me there is an invalid data field in the external atribute
field. This also happens when I try to assign additional categories
to units. Is this only on my program this is happening? I did
download and run 2.1, so I know I'm on the latest version of AB.

Thanks, Rob

Use my description etc. Hell, I wrote these files for

to benefit from them! What's the addy for adding
ab-files group? If it's just announcements, then how
do you plan to upload files to them?

With the extra "v" for "v2" in the filename.

catg

catg:two
catg:three
Or whatever the syntax is.
