This may be a silly question, but if you're distributing AB in CD form,
how would you let each individual store change the line to suit
themselves?

Iron Halo is simply restricted to "one per army". Any character allowed to
take wargear can take the Iron Halo.

pg 24 C:Armageddon
"Availability for other marine chapters. Other Space Marine chapters may
take a crusader pattern Land Raider, but their greater rarity outside the
black templars chapter means that other chapters are limited to having a
maximum of one"
My comments: This could be read two ways. 1) Any choice of land raider is
replaced with a Land Radier Crusader. 2) An additional choice of 0-1 Land
Raider crusaders is added to heavy support. I would opt for #2. The rules do
not actually say "one land raider can be taken as a LR Crusader", it just
says the army can have up to one as a heavy support choice.
Also note, Terminators do NOT get a transport option. Yes, they can be
transported in a LR/LRC but it must be bought from heavy support.

Colen,
I noticed the following when writing a list for different missions:
1) Imperial Guard only get the "other" category in a standard mission.
2) Breakthrough - requires min 1 HQ and shouldn't (checked on space marines)
Is the IG HQ choice mandatory regarless of mission? All the IG mission type
require a "general".

Yep. Something like this would not have to be publicly documented, so it
could be made available only to stores at first. Yes, I'm sure word would
get out and some users would want to take advantage of it, but I'm not sure
too many would.
Then again, it might make sense to document this and let users customize
the footer at the bottom of the page, too. Heck, my ultimate goal is to let
users specify a bitmap to be used as a watermark on the page! I could even
allow custom borders! But that's for sometime in the future, after all the
truly USEFUL features have been added and I've got nothing better to do.
Thanks, Rob

You must include 1 Command Platoon in an Imperial Guard army, check the
codex.

Ah, so you'd be relying on the user to specify the string to use? I
thought you'd be supplying stores with custom versions of AB that had
their store name hard-coded in...

Not unless you're seriously stretching it a bit. Nowhere does it use the
word "replace", for example, which is fairly important.

Well, the good news is, the Ork and Tyranid ab files are done for 2nd
edition (this after a hideous mistake where I erased the Ork files
and had to rebuild them). My friend, j3000w, is trying to post the
exported file on his website, but he says that Yahoo doesn't like it
(he's on geocities, I'm assuming by this cryptic comment that
something about the file is not allowing him to post it).
Apparently, the problem seems to be the "ab" extension itself as he
asked if he could change it (to which I replied 'no'). Anybody have
any ideas on how to correct this so that he can put the file up for
download on his site?

You could just export it as a .zip file, which would be suboptimal but
would work properly with Yahoo (imbeciles that they are). Or you could
just upload the .ab file to the ab-files eGroup, which I'm sure all the
people who email me saying "do u have and 2nd ed fileZ?" would
appreciate

Fair enough. I can accept option #2.
As for transport, terminator squads may not get the transport option, but
command squads do...

By having a simple .txt file, anyone with a text editor can change the
details to that of their store/gaming group/etc/etc.

In a word: No. You need to upgrade to v2.0b to be compatible.

That would be LOTS more work. Since stores use the licensed version instead
of the CD (CDs tend to walk away with sticky-fingered customers), it's
definitely an option. But it's easier to let them customize it themselves.
That way, they can change it if they don't like it.

Data files created with V2.0 are not compatible with V1.4. There are lots
of new things added to V2.0 that V1.4 doesn't understand, including the
ability to even support RH.
To use the RH files, you will need to
upgrade to V2.0 or switch to ABLite. Details on both are available on the
web-site.
Thanks, Rob

Some hosts won't allow files with certain extensions on their sites... which
seems kind of silly to me, but anyway, he can upload the file to the site
with a different extension at the end, and a note on the page saying to
change the extension to .ab when downloading the file. Or find a more
accomidating host.

When you give the Ork Kommando's Nob 'Eavy Armor, his save is listed as 5+,
when it should be a 4+ (which is correctly listed right under him where the
wargear is listed).

In a word: No. You need to upgrade to v2.0b to be compatible.

That would be LOTS more work. Since stores use the licensed version instead
of the CD (CDs tend to walk away with sticky-fingered customers), it's
definitely an option. But it's easier to let them customize it themselves.
That way, they can change it if they don't like it.

Data files created with V2.0 are not compatible with V1.4. There are lots
of new things added to V2.0 that V1.4 doesn't understand, including the
ability to even support RH.

upgrade to V2.0 or switch to ABLite.
