Well, thanks for your continued concern about this, but if I'm the only one,
then most likely it is my confis somewhere. I am using Outlook from Office
2000, Professional. And links work everywhere except AB.

Again, thanks for an amazing product.

And while I'm at it, writing an email anyway. Thanks to everybody that has
taken time to create datafiles. Your work is very appreciated.

Good Hunting,
Paul

I've logged this as a bug, but I have no idea why this would be happening.
Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express as your email program? If so, then
the test I specified may be invalid, because those two programs will
sometimes look for IE even if it is not properly configured to be launched
automatically. I'm not sure of a valid test if you are using one of those
email programs.

Thanks, Rob

This is really odd. I've heard of no other problems like you are
reporting. AB uses the same mechanism that an email program would typically
use to launch the default browser. All that AB does is tell Windows that
look up the proper program to open up the specified web-page (i.e. a
browser) and then tell the browser to go there.

Try the following. Click on the link below from your email program.
Does it work?

http://www.wolflair.com/Army_Builder/Product_Downloads/product_downloads.htm

If the above link works, I have no idea what's going wrong. the
above link is the link specified within the auto-update stuff. That means
that above link from your email program ought to be working the exact same
as from AB. If the link does NOT work from your email, then most likely your
computer is not configured to have IE handle ".htm" files (while it likely
handles many others). This would need to be corrected within IE.

Hope this helps,
Rob

Greetings All,
AB v2 shows me that there is an update available in the upper
right.
However, when I click on it, an error comes up saying that I must
have
either IE or Netscape as my default browser. I have IE as the
default
browser.

Hyperlinks work in other locations (email, web links, desktop
links, etc),
but not when I click the auto update.

Any suggestions on how to correct this? Apart from totally
reinstalling IE.
I have reinstalled AB to make sure that I did that correctly.

I have also tried it by having a IE window open before clicking on
the
update, that also did not work.

Thanks,
Paul

I just had another thought on this. What is the name of the path under
which you installed Army Builder? Please let me know the entire path,
including all directories. Include all spaces and/or other punctuation that
might be defined as part of the path.

Thanks, Rob

Hi there,
First , thank you all for making these files up. ( I know that I
could not have the patience to do it)
Second, Is it possible to add a section like the special characters,
to the 40k file to reflect "optional or White Drawf" changes or units?
Example Weirdbozs, ( Yes I know that they are currently gone per the
codex) but in the rulebook ( Black book?)THey are there.
Just a thought! ( again thank you for all the great work!)
PS does the 40k file only have the codex info?

Hi Colen,

The bug is still in the Kult of Speed army. Adding a nob to the warbike outriders adds an HQ choice to the army. ;-)

Cheers,
Phil G.

p.s. Sorry if you've seen this twice, my system was having trouble with outgoing mail last night and I'm not sure what got through.

No, I do read the FAQ. What I mean is, the Wolves (w/ or w/o guard)
don't have the other catagory. Beta-II ARE the latest, right?

Here's hoping I'm right,

I have noticed that when you add barding to a mount, the Strength
characteristic is reduced by 1. I think that is supposed to be the
movement that is reduced. Also it does not increase the save.

I finished building data files for Agents of Gaming's Fleet Action
system. However, now I'm having problems publishing them.

abexport worked fine, and I made sure that I can reinstall the files
from the .ab file it produced. However, when I ftp it to a website,
then download it (Netscape) and try to import the files, AB tells me
that the files are corrupted in a way often caused by Netscape, and
that it can probably fix it. It can't fix it.

Once I get this working, I'll point the company to where the files
are, and get their permission to publish them. After I do, where
should I make them available (the friend's LINUX box I'm using as a
temporary location probably shouldn't be burdened with too many
downloads, so that's not an option)? My thoughts were Wolflair and
ab-files.

Subject: Re: Publishing Army Builder files

Congrats on writing the files! As for Netscape, it turns out that Netscape
4.6 and 4.7 corrupt files in a slightly different way from the way that 4.5
and earlier corrupted files. Consequently, AB currently only corrects for
the corruption caused by 4.5 and earlier. I wasn't aware that they changed
this behavior in the most recent versions, so I didn't know I had to
correct for yet a different corruption in V2.0. :-(

The only solution at the moment is to use a Zip file instead of a ".ab"
file (Netscape won't corrupt ".zip" files, even though the contents are
EXACTLY the same). Just tell ABExport to create the file as "xxx.zip" or
just rename your ".ab" file to ".zip" and it will download and work
properly with Netscape.

The files can definitely be placed on the Wolf Lair site, since AoG has
already granted permission for it. The AB-Files group is also a great
place, although some may argue that it's not necessary, since AoG has
granted permission for Fleet Action files to be placed on the Wolf Lair
site. That's up to you and whoever is in charge of the AB-Files group -
Colen, I think. :-)

Thanks, Rob
