Derived Traits Question

I have used the Editor to work up my homebrew s20 game system. Everything is working like a champ, I'm happy to say. The only thing missing is the derived Defense trait. It is calculated based on class/level, attribute bonus and a feat or two. Right now, players calculate it after printing and add it by hand, but I would prefer to add it to the system. The scripting and math to calculate it I can handle, but actually adding a derived trait has me stumped.

Can it be done on on the HL d20 system? If so, where would I start?

For some reason, nothing kicks my brain into gear like posting a question to a forum.

I was focusing on where I envisioned it on the character sheet rather than the mechanic I needed to duplicate. I have added it as a new Save, and it seems to be functioning like a champ.
