Deathwing Termies Str 10?

  • Thread starter Thread starter matthius1 at coserv.net

Hi Colen,

I noticed that when I select a unit of Deathwing terminators for a
Dark Angels army, they are listed with strength of 10.

I experimented briefly with the sergeant.

- Str 4 when armed with power sword and storm bolter
- Str 8 when armed with power fist and storm bolter
- Str 10 when armed with thunder hammer and power fist

I experimented with the termie squad
- the power fist selection is greyed out.
- unlimited thunder hammers can be added without reducing the number
of power fists.
- two assualt cannons can be added without reducing the number of
storm bolters.

BTW, thanks for your efforts.

Blast. I forgot to bound the maximum strength to 8.

Currently it's saying "We have a power fist, multiply strength by 2." Then
it's saying "We have a Thunder Hammer, multiply strength by 2." Luckily it
has a maximum of 10...

That's because you can only use the clever "greyed out thing reduces
automatically" on one option per unit. You have to reduce the storm bolters
yourself, until it stops giving an error :)

The four "traditional" terminator outfits were:

Storm Bolter & Power Fist
Storm Bolter & Power Weapon
2 Lightning Claws
Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield

Normal termis can't. Characters can.

Exactly. I've just added another cap to stop it at 8.

gm: Really???? How odd... So, you can't take a thunder hammer and
storm bolter? How often have you seen a terminator with a power fist
and thunder hammer? ... Something ... sense ... make ... not ...

Yes you can take 2 assault cannons and doesn't drop the
StormBolter... hey he does his best ;) and I'm sure there's a good
reason...

gm: Well, that's no biggie. =)

The bigger molehill is the str 10 in the statline. To me, what seems
to be happening is that two CCW's that both double strength are being
used and then capped at Str 10.

Deathwing terminators might do; from what I let them do in the AB file,
they apparently can. Normal terminators certainly can't.

Hmm, you're right. I'll have to fix that :/

gm: Hmmm..., I was sort of under the impression that 'Deathwing'
Termies can mix and match weapons and, as a result, end up with some
non-traditional weapon combos. Isn't that one of the reasons for the
increased cost of them? I'll need to reread my 'dex this evening.
