Deadlands Reloaded Import Stock Hero?

So I'm working on NPC's and Monsters for my groups first foray into Deadlands.
I wanted to toss in some standard monsters(with tweaks) and a few human NPC's from the Marshal's Handbooks for some encounters.

I've used other systems and have been able to import from the stock portfolio(Pathfinder and such) with no problem. But with Deadlands, I don't have anything or rather don't see anything.

I see the standard Archetypes, Animals, Creatures, Necessary Evil or SPC versions and Fantasy Companion ones. But that's it.

Are they currently not implemented or do I need to reinstall them?

I'm not certain what you mean (not having used Pathfinder). Are you asking if there are already any pre-made creatures and/or portfolios for Deadlands: Reloaded? If so I think there are only a few of the Deadlands-specific creatures in the data files (I think Wendigo is one of them, for example.) And there are no portfolios with them. Then again Savage Worlds is easy enough that it's not a big deal at all to make them from scratch.

There is a full compliment of creatures in the Deadlands: Noir and Hell on Earth files if you download those, which might give you some to make copies from. Noir also has the portfolios for all the encounters from Red Harvest set up in them. I haven't ever set up the "Humans" as portfolios in either of those, though, but I suppose I could, maybe even should.

I personally use Hero Lab from the player side of the table, not as a GM, so if you are using it that way (especially if you use the Combat Tracker utility and such) I'd definitely love some feedback on what are some of the best ways to implement things in data files so that functionality works better for the GM. I can't do much for you on the Dedlands: Reloaded side (although rumor has it an update to the file may be in the works) but I can help out for the other files I've done at least.

Basically, just importing a stock creature/hero and tweaking it. Saves on time, and helps me organize. I see the Deadlands Noir if I Import Hero from Portfolio
but nothing for Hell on Earth.

And while I realize it's easy to create from scratch, I have a dozen or so critters and npc's that I want to pull from. Thus pulling from the Stock Portfolio is great.

It's the same concept in all the systems, you can pull generic/stock characters and mod them however you need to.
Print them out or export them to a format to drop into a document, and viola GMing made easier. :D

Noir has the Red Harvest adventure(s) in the stock, with each encounter.

I just assumed(and my fault for doing so) that the Deadlands Reloaded data would have stock npcs and critters to use.

Ah, gotcha. I think I'm the only one who has done that with any of the data files so far (the Noir one) but I haven't added full on stock NPC portfolios even there. My focus when I started doing files was just to get them out there so they could be used for players to make NPCs and I think we're getting close to having data files for all of the Pinnacle settings now. So it's getting to the point now where maybe I can at least look at going back to the data files I've done and adding in creatures (where I haven't already) and stock NPC portfolios. That's a bit tedious (as I've been finding out with doing the Noir encounter ones) but if somebody will actually use it then I suppose that should be worth doing. :)

I do need to finish out the Plot Point encounters for Noir first and maybe after that I can look at doing stock NPCs portfolios. Again, though, those won't be for DLR since that's not my data file anyway. Sorry. :(

EDIT: However... if you wanted to volunteer some time to create stock NPCs for Deadlands (or any of the other settings, for that matter) I'm sure CapedCrusader would be happy to add them to the DLR data file when he has the time to review them and add them in. I know his plate is pretty full with data file reviews, core file updates and all kinds of other stuff right now.

I'll definitely consider helping out. I'm still relatively new with HL as far as creating templates and such... but I'd be happy to help any way I can.

Awesome! I've started another thread for anyone willing to volunteer for stuff like that. I for one would love to have more of that stuff available!

I'm going to do an overhaul of the Deadlands file with the additional work that Zarlor has done, so I would absolutely accept any and all help to add material.
