Dates appearing in Player View without being revealed

Hey all-
The timeline on my player view is full of marriage, birth, and death dates that belong to topics that have been revealed, but the snippet containing the date hasn't.

Is this a bug, or could I be doing something wrong?

Any chance you could post some screenshots of what you're seeing? Or submit a support ticket with attached screenshots?

Players seeing concealed content in any way is DEFINITELY a bug. As to whether you're doing something wrong, I need more information. :)

Here are some screenshots, Joe-

Realmworks_1.png

This shows the GM view of the timeline, and the revealed topic "Roland" with unrevealed Snippet "Date of Birth". This date of birth can also be seen in the timeline.

realmworks_2.png

Here we see the same view, but with "player view" enabled. The topic is showing correctly; no birthdate. But the timeline is still showing the birthdate (other unrevealed events are properly hidden.)

We have earlier had a problem where the player view in the GM's RW showed unrevealed as revealed yet showed it correctly out on the players' machines.

Maybe it is the same here?

I can't really tell if you have spotted the problem on your own machine (logged in as GM using player view) or on your players' machines.

Well, Joe is on the case so it will be solved in either case.

GM view- note that the topic "roland" is revealed, but his birthday is not.

player view (on same machine). Note that the date does not show up in the topic, but it does show in the timeline.

I will have to test this out myself, but it's very likely that it only appears this way in a GM copy with player mode enabled.

For GMs, player mode is a "simulation" of what players will see, but all the concealed content still exists on their machine. For players, we don't even sync down concealed content, so it isn't present on their machine to display.

At least, that's my recollection of how it works. Only testing will tell us for sure :)

My basic test concludes that Player Edition (the copy of RW a player would use) does NOT show any concealed information. So your players should be safe to use Player Edition. The bug is limited to Game Master Edition operating in Player Mode.

So, the definitive answer is:

Player Mode on GM Edition: sometimes shows things it shouldn't.
Player View on GM Edition: shows things correctly
Player Edition: shows things correctly

Cool.

Yes. So for the time being, don't let anyone see Timeline view in your GM Edition who shouldn't be allowed to see it, even if it's in Player Mode.
