d20pfsrd Data Sets - Powered by Hero Lab....

So how do I get this to update? I tried to use the "View Updates" but nothing has changed for me.
So it appears something in 4.0c is no longer detecting new versions of "Data Packages" from third party URLs. Will send an email to Colen to let him know. This really sucks as if someone does not manually check they won't know a new version is out. :(

Until then from View Updates or "Find Updates" you can select the v2.4 of the Community Bestiary and tell it download.

That worked but now I'm getting this error:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Thing 'rLMKigrid' - Bootstrap thing 'raCtrake' does not exist

I find no instance of "rLMKigrid" in anything I have released to the community or from the "Community Bestiary" or other small packages like SGG and Psionics unleashed. Just did a search through all my data folders.

Sorry this is something you must have created or gotten somewhere else. :(

It's a pity that the error dialogs can't say which file is having the problem... ex. Thing 'rLMKigrid' in file foo.user - Bootstrap thing 'raCtrake' does not exist.

So after testing this on my laptop last night it does appear to be working.

Can anyone else confirm they did get a notice about the new release of the CB or did NOT get the notice when they started HL?

Thanks

I didn't get the notice. I actually didn't see the update the first time I went looking for it. I had to wait until the second time you mentioned it to find it. I looked in the same place both times.

I did get the notice and have updated the CB accordingly through Hero Lab.
Awesome thanks for the info.

I am guessing here blzbob but HL only checks on start up. So if you already had HL open and then I released a new version it won't tell you about it until you restart HL. That is when it does its check. So I am thinking that was why you didn't get notified about it.

Technically I could. I would have to "Replace" every Thing in the one file with the other. Two issues with this. First for anyone looking at what I did it would be confusing. So thats bad.

The bigger reason is we try not to ever use "Replace Thing ID" in these data sets as HL currently can only handle one Replace. So this would prevent anyone else from doing their own houserules.

For example I could have houseruled changes to some Racial Specials. So I can do a "Replace Thing ID" so that monsters in the .por use my new houserule. This also means that as I didn't change the CB .user files my changes don't get removed with a new update. So thats another reason I would prefer to not use "Replace Thing ID" feature for any of our data sets if we can help it. It would break for anyone who is currently using "Replace Thing ID" and prevent someone in the future from doing their own houserules.

Another question about 'Replace Thing ID'... will I get a missing thing if 'Replace Thing ID' is replacing a thing that's not present? IE. I create my own thing to replace the version in UE. If I then give my data file to someone that doesn't own UE, would it break?

Yep it will break as their will be nothing to replace. Yea found that the hard way with my players. The same is if use the "*Hidden" or "*Preclude" tabs to try and hide the Thing. If the data set does not have that Unique ID then it gives an error and falls back into safe mode.

Hmm can't think of a good way right now how to get around this right now. Let me think. Or maybe Mathias has a good idea.

There's no way around that - you always need to keep packages in mind when sharing user content with others.

Can you put the replacements of UE material in a different file than the rest of your replacements, so that you can send only the portion the other person will be able to use?

For the ARG races I have many of the same races in my data set (ie Catfolk, Ratfolk) but with changes. I wanted those in my group to use the ARG feats and gear without issues. But had I done a "Replace" those without ARG package would no longer be able to load my data set which was not acceptable.

So in this case I have a script on my Catfolk race that looks to see if ARG is checked. If it is using a "String" variable I assign the "HL" official Race tags to the hero. By doing it as a String Variable I don't run into the issues of errors for those without the ARG.

I am wondering, and understand Mathias said no, if you could "hide" the official UE item, using "Hide.Gear" <=Don't even know if this tag exists, when the "UE" source is active. If not active then don't try and "hide" or disable the official item????

Just thinking out loud here....

Do you mean hide in the selection lists, or hide once purchased?

Remember, you can't assign tags to the items while they're still things -only once they're picks. You also can't have that item run a script until it's a pick.

The way to keep things from showing up in the lists is the *Hidden tab, but that's back to the same problem with replacement - HL has to know what that item you've told it to hide is.

d20pfsrd - Psionics Unleashed (vX.XX)

TCArknight and RavenX have been hard at work inputting EVERYTHING from the Psionics Unleashed core rules. It is now ready for everyone to unleash in there games!

PU Sources combined together into just "Psionics Unleashed". You may get warnings about missing sources when you open up your characters. This is fine and everything will continue to work correctly.

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

File: PFRPG_Psionics_Unleashed.user (line 17017) - Thing - Duplicate record encountered ('raVulnSun')
File: PFRPG_Psionics_Unleashed.user (line 17213) - Thing - Duplicate record encountered ('rCrysmal')
