Custom Weapon - Add Ability Score

DM handed out a sword this past weekend, that adds 2 strength! Trying to figure out how to add the strength without just adding 2 strength to the character. Not going to be using this weapon all the time, at least for now.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
 
Have you looked at the script on the belt of giant strength +2? The way you're describing this item, it sounds like it's applying the same effect.
