Custom Power Option?

Since Ulitmate Power gives options for creating your own powers and has powers that aren't represented here would it be possible to have a cusom power option that lets you determine the Effect, Action, Range, Duration, Saving Throw, and Cost. I know it makes it harder to validate, but unless there are updates that include all of the poers that aren't in the main book fairly soon it makes it harder to input characters sucha s ones from the Paragons book and various other sourcebooks.

I'm hoping that the Authoring Kit will have something like this in it. I've been trying to create some powers from the UP book but its been a chore with some of the more esoteric ones.

like Gadgets, Grafting, Mental Duplication, Reflex Memory, and any other variable or unusual power that is too hard to spread among alternate powers (which is also limiting since there's no array structure).

Not to mention the numerous unique extras and flaws for each of those powers.

So yeah, we all need at least some kind of customization tutorial to achieve that.

I think there is a way to make them in the Editor, but I can't figure out how to make it possible to buy ranks in them. If there is an Ultimate Power update or data file coming out that would be great, but if there isn't it would be good to have some better doccumentation on how to use the editor

If you want to add a totally new power, you should use the editor.
Tutorials 2 and 3 show you how to add a new power and specify the
effect, action, etc - check them out if you want to add new powers (you
can find it by launching the editor from the Tools menu, then clicking
"Help" on the editor window.)

Alternatively, you can just add a power that's similar to the one you
want and then add custom extras & flaws until it has the correct cost,
then rename it.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, it would help..if the tutorial would actually tell you how to make a variable power, like Gadgets, and would actually _COPY_ a variable power, like Morph, and have it work correctly. I spent a good two hours trying everything to make Gadgets work, always came out broken, with a 1pt cost buy(despite setting it as minimum 6 points, max 7 points) and Morph wouldn't even copy right, so I couldn't use it as a template. I mean, sure, I _suppose_ you could just make completely sepperate versions of Gadgets for the two levels, but what if you had one with three or four options? How the heck do you make that work? I tried looking _all_ through the tutorial and scripting files for that.

Morph isn't a good place to start from - you'd want to start from one of
the powers that lets you add other things, like Shapeshift for example.
Try the following:

1) Copy the Shapeshift power, and call it "Gadgets", for 7 points per rank

2) Add a power flaw costing -1 called "Easy to lose"

3) When you're using the power, activate and deactivate power settings
depending on the gadgets you want to use at any given time.

Try the above - does that help?
