"Creature" Armor?

I just tried adding an Ally to one of my characters (setting is not relevant for this question), set it to be a creature and selected Horse, War as the creature type. But I noticed that if I try to add armor (barding, of course) I get a response that there is "Nothing to choose from!" I'd like to add with the Editor barding for mounts so they could be selected from the character screen. How do I do that? I can't figure it out.
 
Looking at the code for the "Armor & Shields" table on the Armory tab, I don't see anything that would prevent all armors from being shown, and give you the "Nothing to choose from" message.

When I'm using the basic version of the Savage Worlds files, and I add the Ally option on the Allies tab, that ally is allowed to purchase armor, so it's not a general bug - there's nothing preventing allies from purchasing armor.

So you'll need to tell me more about how you created this ally. There may be a setting in there that's preventing this specific character from selecting armor.
 
Agreed, it works fine for a base ally. But add your ally, go to your ally then go to Character -> Configure Hero (or hit Ctrl-K) then change the Type to "Type: Creature", which then let's you select a Creature Type in the same box where you would normally select Race on your portfolio. It doesn't matter if you select a creature type or which creature type you select the Armor and Shield selections will give you the "Nothing to choose from" error. So the important part of my original post wasn't that I created an ally, but that I set their type to "Creature" which seems to cause this issue.
 
Here are the set of steps I followed:

On the allies tab, add an ally.
Switch to that ally
Change the ally to a creature
Select the "Horse, War" race for that ally
On the armory tab, "Add New Armor and Shields"

I see 24 items there - Chain Hauberk, Chain Leggings, all the way down to Reflective Vest.
 
Ok, it must be something going on with my install then. I'll see if I can figure it out. Maybe I'll just re-install.

EDIT: Duh. I didn't have any equipment eras selected on my character config screen so of course there was nothing available! My bad.
