Copying Animal Companion to new class

I am working on a class for our 5e campaign (an artificer who can make automaton companions). I looked at the ranger's animal companion, and that's pretty much what I want with some small changes. Is there a fast way to move the entire thing over, or am I stuck with a lot of fiddly little programming eating what little free time I had to spend on this? I know that I can do a New(Copy) to get a specific thing over, but the question comes down to - does it copy bootstraps and such as well?

Creating or modifying a class is one of the most fiddly, time-consuming activities in hero labs (IMO), it won't be a short and easy task.

I know the Unearthed Arcana Artificer has a mechanical companion, have you looked at that option in the community files?

Otherwise, yes, copying a class also copies/creates the class helper which bootstraps the original classes bootstrapped items. These are links to the original items, so if you want to modify a bootstrapped ability, you'll need to copy it seperately - make your changes - then swap the bootstrap call in your new copied class halper.
