Hi all,

I’ve just purchased Hero Lab and I’m trying to learn how it works as I’m a complete neophyte. Most of it seems pretty straight-forward, but I am utterly confused on how add simple magic weapons and armor. I’ve searched around on the web to try and get answers, but I’m still having trouble.

I’d really appreciate if someone could explain to me how to do the following:

1. How do I add a simple +1 longsword or +1 chainshirt to a character sheet? I feel like I’m missing something really obvious here.

2. More complicated: How would I add/create a +3 composite longbow with a +2 strength adjustment? If I choose a non-magical bow I see where I can add a strength adjustment, but if I create a magical bow I don’t see that option.

3. Even more complicated: How would I add/create a +1 shock composite longbow with a +2 strength adjustment?

On the weapons tab, there are two tables. The bottom one is for "normal" weapons, and the top one is for specific magic weapons and custom built weapons. Click on the top table's add cell, and it will pop up a list. The first option is " Custom/Magic weapon ", so select that and hit add. A form will pop up, with a dropdown to select the enhancement bonus of your weapon, and a chooser to select the base weapon. When selecting the base weapon is when you'll set the strength bonus of any composite bow. There is also a place to choose an exotic material, and a table to add one or more item powers.

Hi Aaron, thanks for your response. I finally get it - it all seems so simple now :rolleyes: I was clicking on the "Custom / magic weapon" and nothing was happening, and all I was seeing was the list of specific weapons below that. I didn't realize I had to click Add to have the new box pop up.
