There has been very little added from Dragon magazine. Without being able to look at the class its very difficult to say how easy or difficult it would be to code. If you could change the existing Ranger (like an archetype) that's not too bad - if you have to make a new class from scratch, it's a lot more work.
 
It's a variant class, but somewhat complex to code at first sight: gains spell casting at 1st level, has cantrips and 5th level spells from a restricted list, delays some class features (combat style, endurance) while giving up animal companion and a few proficiencies.
 
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I made sure I had the latest update from this post. The encounter library is showing 432 creatures, but when i search for something basic like goblin it does not have it in the encounter library. am I missing something or do i need to make the creatures? i assumed I would be able to port basic creatures in, I made sure I had all the books checked in the configure section. Do i need to do anything else?
 
Do you mean the Encounter Builder? It's in there for me - about a third of the way down the list (CR3). Try restricting the CR range, make sure you have the Bestiary activated for that portfolio.
The search function should find everything that has the word your searching for anywhere in its Stat block. (It's not a community issue, its from the LW data files, but asking here is fine.)

Hello,

I'm so sorry, I did not even get a notification that I got a reply. So I found Goblin and hobgoblin, but cannot find dragon, I double checked that beastiary is selected in the configure hero option, is there somewhere else I should check it? Mainly when I search I get a lot of NPC like ranger 1st level, ranger 3rd level and other classes of varying levels.

Okay, the problem now is that there aren't files with ALL the creatures (like Dragons) stored in them for HL to access. The Encounter Builder is reading portfolios and stock files for this information - it's not looking at the packages you own, like the Bestiary. You are better off adding a monster NPC to a portfolio to see the creature detail. (Pathfinder works better for this.)

There aren't stock files for most of the creatures in d20, unfortunately. I started on this project a while ago, but it was more work than I had time to devote to it. You can make your own stock portfolios quite easily, though, if you need it.

I just went to the first page (of this thread) and clicked on the link - it downloaded fine. In any case... here's the basics of what it says:
1. Start HL and on the system select page, click on "Find Updates"
2. Near the bottom of the new screen, click on "Add Source"
3. Click the "New Source" button and type in the URL: http://www.shadowsoftware.net/herolab/d20/updates.xml
4. Click on "OK", then "OK" again.
5. Restart HL.
6. Click on "Find Updates" and now scroll down the list of updates and find "d20 Community Set(v1.31)" Click "Download"
7. Click "Start Import". Once this has run, you have the Community files installed, and can go back and start HL again as normal.
