Hello.

I was trying out the Army Builder program for Chronopia and cam across
some errors (I think).

I made a list for the Firstborn Army and found the two errors:

1. The Two-handed sword for Firstborn does not have a -2 CC as it
shows on the printout.
2. The Mace is a damage 7 weapon, not a damage 10 weapon asa shown on
the printout.

Am I seeing this wrong?

James

Those *might* be bugs, and then again, they might not. :-( The problem is
that a number of weapons were specified with the exact same names and
different stats in some of the supplements. The supplements never specify
whether these changes override the stats given in the original book.
However, the convention used in the initial books is that a weapon with the
same name always has the same stats, regardless of the race it is available
to. Thus, there is either an inconsistency in the conventions utilized OR
the fact that the new stats override the old ones is never actually stated
anywhere. I tried contacting Target about this a couple times and they
never offered me a ruling. So, I was forced to pick one. :-( My group
adopted the "override" interpretation, since the first books were very
consistent about this. Consequently, that's how the files were implemented.
If you can get an official ruling out of Target, I'd be very interested in
hearing it (and I'll gladly change the files if they are wrong). :-)

Hope this helps explain the confusion,
Rob

Dear Rob,

I was going to write you and ask you to check the most recent FAQ for
Chronopia. I believe it answers many of the questions you may have had
concerning:

1. Correcting the MW and PW stats for the Chronomancer
2. Correcting the availability of Jungle Warrior troops in only the
Jade Elf list.
3. Correcting the damage and other characteristics on many weapons
(Firstborn Mace for example).

These are but a few i saw on the demo. i would like to say that I
think you have a GREAT product here and I have already ordered the CD.
i noticed you mentioned you were working on Version 2. If someone such
as myself purchased the CD version, can we "upgrade" to Version 2 for
free or a reduced cost?

Thanks again.

James

I'll get ahold of the latest Chronopia FAQ and get the files updated. I
wish that Target had simply replied to my emails that they would be
answering my questions in a soon-to-be-released FAQ update instead of just
ignoring my questions. I had no idea about the FAQ update and didn't stop
to look. I honestly haven't had the time to actually play more than once in
the last 12 months, so I never looked for an updated FAQ. Oh well, now I
know. :-)

As for the CD, all past upgrades have been a free download from the
web-site. For CD users, the plan is to continue this with V2.0. While it is
possible that V2.0 may require a new CD be issued, that is not the current
plan. If it does become necessary, then existint CD users will be able to
upgrade at a minimal cost. However, I think it is likely that a simple
download will be all that is required.

Thanks, Rob

Well, they've had their hands full..

I had sent you in the past some things that need to be fixed, if you
make an effort to update the files I think it would be good to get some
feedback from chronopia players as to all of the little nuances, the
previously mentioned ones here were needed, but there are also many
other glitches in the data files that need attention, and I'm sure
you'd rather just do one update of the files than have to pick at them
again and again, If you need any help please feel free to ask for it
(so far as the rules and stats go that is) as I would be happy to lend
any help I could.
