Certain Graphics not rendering in PDF Print (Linux; Wine)

When I Print Preview a character the tiny little graphics (like shield icons next to skills or check boxes for ammo) show normally and just fine.

When I print to a PDF or print directly to a printer, these little graphics are rendered as dark lined squares.

I realize HL on Wine is not an official supported method but does anyone have any insight on how to fix this? It's the one tiny detail that nags at me. :)
