Cannot Save Changes on Custom Sheet

New member
When I use AncientOne's Customizable Pathfinder Sheet v4.9, it will not retain the changes to my sheets arrangement when I Save it. It just opens again in the default mode (yet, when I save it as Webpage, Complete it temporarily shows my changes then instantly goes back to default sheet arrangement once completely loaded), with none of my prior arrangements saved. FYI, I'm using Google Chrome for the sheet (which I right click on, click Save As, and the only option is htm format.)

I've tried it on Explorer but I can't even find a way to save it there.

That seems to defeat the purpose of customizing your character sheet, doesn't it? Is there a solution to this? What steps am I missing here?

What you're trying to do isn't really supported, because custom sheets are just HTML pages and HTML pages don't have the ability to make changes to your local system. (If they did, they would be a major security problem.)

The best the sheet can do is "remember" your selected options, which it does by storing cookies. However, that doesn't allow it to remember text changes, re-ordered items, etc.

The work-around is to "print" your sheet to PDF after you've made your changes. Then you'll be able to open the PDF and see it exactly as it was. Of course, you will still need to re-apply your custom changes if you regenerate the custom sheet from Hero Lab.

I just started using your custom sheet. Are there any buttons to apply logic like fighting defensively, etc...? So that the person can click on the button to see the changes?

If there is, i missed it.

That way lies madness! :p

The serious answer is "no"... although the sheet is very customizable, it's ultimately intended to be printed, and it doesn't have features of the form "click this button to recalculate because ability/feature/spell/etc XYZ is now in effect". That would be re-creating the "in-play" features of Hero Lab itself.

As fancy as the sheet may appear to be, it's really just giving you various ways of displaying the information that Hero Lab produces. The sheet does almost no calculations of its own.

That described me pretty well.
