Buying gear after creation locked?

I built a new character. I locked the creation on the Advances tab.

Now when I spend $ it instantly pops up that I have spent too much $ during creation. This happens whether or not I first add a Journal entry first....

What is going on here? Am I missing something that I am supposed to do before spending $?
 
Figured it out. It's actually a bug. If you add things to equipment you bought during creation it will think you are still modifying creation stats even though it is locked.
