Bestiarys from the Adventure Paths

Cool! I just finished the RotRL bestiary entries this weekend. Need to give them a once-over before I send them to ShadowChemosh, myself.

Thanks for your hard work, VU!

Here's an update on where things stand with the Bestiary entries:

Volunteers:
Rise of the Runelords - Paris.Crenshaw - Entry Complete, Reviewing prior to submission for posting
Curse of the Crimson Throne - ValaraukarU - Submitted to ShadowChemosh for posting
Second Darkness - Paris.Crenshaw
Legacy of Fire - Unseelie
Council of Thieves
Serpent's Skull
Kingmaker
Carrion Crown
Jade Regent - Paris.Crenshaw

Of note...I'm playing in Kingmaker, so I'm trying to avoid spending too much time in those books. If someone else could do those creatures, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks. I got it and will try and get it up ASAP.

Actually I already found an error. The source tag was missing its description and user bindings because I deleted the ting entry that had the name. I discovered it when I moved it to a new computer and the config options were messed up. Sorry. I sent a new one.

While struggling with another data set that I'm prepping for distribution, I realized that I didn't add innate skill ranks or auto-designate feats for ANY of the creatures I did for RotRL. I'm guessing that most folks are going to want the creatures that have racial hit dice to behave the same way such creatures do throughout HL.

Given that, I have to go back through every creature and change the data file. Additionally, I realized that I'm going to have to do a clean build of the portfolio, anyway, because the POR file is going to look for the data sets I have unless I hide them when creating it. If others try to load a POR file that's looking for the data sets I have saved on my system, they'll get errors.

::sigh:: Back to work, Paris!

When I saw you post the orphaned sources I realized my stock and por files will also have orphaned sources. I'll be trying to update those as well to have clean source lists.

I have not yet posted the files you sent me should I wait for new ones if you plan to fix this issue?

See THIS post I did to help with setting up a clean data set for this stuff. I currently run 6 different versions of Pathfinder and I find it much easier to implement stuff. Plus I run 3 different versions for d20 to help with the community project.

Might as well wait. I will send another in a few days.

I sat down tonight and made a list of all the AP bestiary creatures that are NOT currently in Hero Lab. I did this by going through every issue of Pathfinder APs and comparing them with the races and templates in Hero Lab when all the available data sets are turned on.

This list will provide a starting point for me to do my own work, although I know that some of you have already added creatures and posted files to your sites or on d20PFSRD.com.

I will be running the Carrion Crown AP with ShadowChemosh as a player and he already been beating me up to get this done for this AP. I will start working on the creatures listed here for it this weekend.

Posted earlier, but does not seem to be showing up. ShadowChemosh has been getting onto me to do the Bestiary for the Carrion Crown AP since i am running that game for him, so I will start working on that one tonight, or this weekend at the latest.

Hey Paris, I am running a Kingmaker AP at the moment as wel. I can add those creatures in. maybe i'll make one as part of the video series i am planning. i will need a bit of time to get to them though, work has been extra crazy and will be for at last at few weeks.

Thanks, Guys! I'll add you to the list.

And don't worry about rushing anything. I know how tough it can be to balance work, home, and hobby life.

After all, I still haven't been able to go back and update my Rise of the Runelords Bestiary entries with all the pre-assigned feats and skill points.

Volunteers:
Rise of the Runelords - Paris.Crenshaw - Prepping for submission
Curse of the Crimson Throne - ValaraukarU - Editing prior to sumission
Second Darkness - Paris.Crenshaw? (maybe not, if someone else has already done them)
Legacy of Fire - Unseelie
Council of Thieves - bodrin
Serpent's Skull
Kingmaker - chiefweasel
Carrion Crown - Umarian
Jade Regent - Paris.Crenshaw

We're still looking for volunteers for Council of Thieves and Serpent's Skull.

Amongst other Real Life / non HL and HL related stuff. I'll nibble away at Council of Thieves. Can't promise a quick turnaround though!

So I just got sent a complete list of NPCs and looks like the monsters for Second Darkness AP. I posted what I got to d20pfsrd under the "Pathfinder Adventure Path" folder with the name "Second Darkness Chapters 1-6 NPCs.zip" I don't know if it will help you or not Paris.Crenshaw but figured I would let you know. :)

That's good news, I think. If they're done, then I don't have to do them. :D

Also, I'm about to send you the corrected Rise of the Runelords bestiary monsters. (Scratch that. I'll get the portfolio done and send it to you tomorrow night.)

Thanks for volunteering, bodrin. I know what you mean about real life. Keep us posted, I might be able to take some of those off your hands. Otherwise, I guess I'm moving on to Serpent's Skull, unless there's more to be done with Second Darkness.

Volunteers:
Rise of the Runelords - Paris.Crenshaw - Submitted to ShadowChemosh
Curse of the Crimson Throne - ValaraukarU - Editing prior to sumission
Second Darkness - Paris.Crenshaw (Partially completed by another contributor)
Legacy of Fire - Unseelie
Council of Thieves - bodrin
Serpent's Skull
Kingmaker - chiefweasel
Carrion Crown - Umarian
Jade Regent - Paris.Crenshaw (still on hold, awaiting further info)

Point of clarification/update: All I have to do is assign the Harridan's Racial Cleric Spells in the portfolio and both the .user file and .por file will be ready to go.

After this is finished, I need to work on a couple of non-HL related projects before I can get back to data entry. Given the latest word on Second Darkness, I'll probably start with Serpent's Skull unless someone else picks that up.

My work has me running and i wont have much time to devote to this for a few weeks, just so folks know. I might also use one of the beasts as an example for my demo videos.

How do you assign a racial spell in the user files?

My list has Rakshasa Maharajah with racial sorcerer spells and I couldn't find how to select which racial spells in the user files so they are currently only selected in the stock file.

I don't think there's a way to actually do that. I had hoped there was a way to bootstrap the spells, but doing that either dumps them into the spell-like ability section or sends them into oblivion.

I will just be assigning them in the portfolio file so people will have a version that's ready to import and use.

ok same for me then.

As far as I know that is the correct way. This holds true for any equipment on the creature. You could bootstrap say a sword but then it could never get changed.

So better to add the equipment and save as a .por file.
