Auspicious tattoo - background/history

I have created a human shoanti ranger.

I would like to use the trait "Auspicious Tattoo", but I am bound by my GM to use only what is unlocked by Background/history.

So... what specific detail from background/history should I choose in order to be able to choose that specific trait?

Help is very much appreciated

That trait is from a book other than Ultimate Campaign. The Backgrounds system added in Ultimate Campaign only allows the traits that were in Ultimate Campaign. I recommend asking your GM to create a new background option that you can enter using the editor that allows this trait, since otherwise, using that rule restricts you to a single book for choosing traits.
 
But it is odd though, since the trait is there on the list of traits in Herolab.

I will tak with my GM and suggest we find an intern solution.
 
The list of traits in Hero Lab includes traits from dozens of books.

If you choose to turn on "Traits & Drawbacks Require a Background", you're restricting yourself to traits from just one book, because the backgrounds in the Ultimate Campaign book only mention the traits in that same book.
