Attack bonus on kneeling/sitting?

Hi,

Im a noob to hero lab and new to this forum, so maybe my question is as well :)

I created a pathfinder ranger in Hero Lab and gave him a bow. Under conditions there is Sitting/Kneeling that give bonuses on to hit (-2 melee and +2 ranged). This sounds logical enough but i cant find the rules in either core or players. On page 195 in the core bool there is somthing that give these bonuses to the AC but not to attack (if i dint misunderstood it).

I hope that someone can clearify if this is a bug or a rule that i havent found yet (I would love to use it).

I believe that the 8-6 chart is the rule. It is only listed there, and not described elsewhere in the PCRB. A space saving device I believe.

Then this is a bug in hero lab or oprional rule?
The rule is in the CORE book so it's not optional. As Golkiwu said its in the Combat Modifier Table.

It is a little confusing I see as the HL condition is giving your hero the bonuses/negatives to shoot at a Kneeling target. Which makes sense actually as their would be no way to apply the Armor Class bonuses/negatives as it would be conditional on your attacker.

Notice 8-6 is "Defender is" so doesn't count for attacks.
Table 8-5 is "Attacker is" and has dash for Ranged.

Also notice you can't attack ranged unless using a crossbow or shrunken. I wasn't aware of that.

So if you are getting a + to hit from kneeling in HL you need to post in the bug thread.

Thanks for the answers. But I still cant understand it... 8(

The table is called: Armor Class Modifiers. And it seams to me that it give a AC modifier to the defender. For sitting down it is -2 melee, +2 ranged. Its logical that you get better AC when sitting down when targeted by ranged weapon, and worse AC sitting down in melee.

Take another modifier in the same table:
Behind cover (+4 melee, +4 range), cover will not increase your attack rate.

Sitting down isnt mentioned in the "Attack Roll Modifiers", and it should be to get the effect it have in hero lab.

I actually wish that it was like it is in hero lab, but I have problems understanding this and i need to convince my gm :)

Anyone else?

Thanks, I will make a post in the bug forum.

Your character is getting the bonus/negative to attack a Kneeling target. The condition is not for yourself when kneeling, but for what your attacking. As the standard character sheet has no Ranged AC and Melee AC it would be impossible to have a condition adjust anything. So its setup so that you activate it when attacking a kneeling target.

Similar to the Flank condition that you activate when you are attacking a flanked target.

Thanks, this makes more sence.

There is nothing that states that you cannot:

While kneeling or sitting. That only applies to prone.
