There is no PDA version of AB. We get requests for it all the time, and
it's something we'll consider after AB3 is out. But AB requires (a) lots of
screen real estate and (b) lots of processing power. Those are two things
that PDAs are short on, so I have no idea whether it's realistic to try
developing a PDA version. It would definitely entail a major rewrite to
accommodate the huge differences of a PDA from a desktop machine. :-(

Thanks, Rob

If i might make a suggestion on this for when you do decide to tackle it.. I have played Games Workshops Wargames and a practical way (from my perspective) would be to have a short list of just the squads to select from which bring up the detail on just that squad.. you never are dealing with more than one at a time and it would reduce the screen real-estate problem to not try to show the whole army at once.. you could even do i all landscape.

just my 2 cents on the problem

Jeff one of many lurkers.. wait this means I'm not a lurker anymore right? ;)

If I can make a suggestion Rob, it should be enough for you to simply make
a AB Roster Viewer for Palm. Without the roster editing capability you
wouldn't need 3/4 of the real estate you need with the PC version and you
could definitely do without a lot of the processing power. With a simple
"Export to Palm" option from AB people could do all their editing on PC as
normal and then download the finished list to their palm to take with them
wherever they go to play.

That would be a lot easier to do.

Maybe an export filter that can be looked at once AB3 is in release?

A simple roster viewer would be superfluous, as most PDAs have the ability to
view HTML files, and those that do not will certainly be able to view text
summaries.

I'd also like to point out that the "PDAs are not powerful enough" argument is
ill-founded, as I am sitting here with a PDA with a 400MHz processor (which was
the speed of my desktop when AB2.2 ws released); add to that the fact that
PALMOS requires far less overhead than Windows and "power" isn't an issue. Of
course, Palms are not the only PDAs, but I would certainly hope that Palm OS
would not be overlooked.
