Are items from packages transferrable?

If I add items from APG or ultimate equipment to a character in my portfolio.. then I give the portfolio file to someone else, what happens? Will they see the item in their HL even if they don't have the same set of add-ons? Will it be converted/transformed?

I'm wondering about this because my group has added all of their characters into one portfolio and we share the file between us to add updates.
 
Anything that is from a package not owned by the other person will be removed when opened on a copy of Hero Lab without that package. If you save it in this state, the removal becomes permanent.

As AndrewD2 noted, Hero Lab will give you an error message listing exactly what is being removed when you open that character on the other computer.
