Altering the "base weapon"

If I wanted to take a magical weapon that is a specific type, say a sword of lifestealing, and recreate it so that it were a rapier rather than a longsword, should it be as simple as going into tools, creating a copy of the weapon, changing the "base weapon" to rapier, and saving it?

'Cause I'm getting screeds of errors when I test the item.

NB: It's not actually a lifestealer, but an AP specific weapon. I just figured using a more commonly known weapon would get more peole reading.

Thanks.

Is the list of errors like THIS?

If so you have run into a binary application bug. Congrats! :)

The ONLY way to get around this is to Exit HL and restart it. Then you can once again use Test Now! for X number of times until it appears again.

That looks very much like it. I'll try turning it off and on again in the morning. :) Thank you.

(So, changing the base weapon should have worked?)
