AB3 update status/feature request

New member
Just checking in to see if there were any imminent releases set to come out for ab3. I've got 3.0b #76 currently, and there doesn't seem to have been anything since february.

The main reason I'm writing is because the html output function is a sticking point I'd love to see improved. As of now you can only put in some body/head tags and such, but can't change other things such as table widths, styles, and more.

Is there any plan to increase the flexibility of this feature? If not, I'd like to put it forward as an official feature request.

An early (read: incomplete) V3.1 just went to Beta testing. There is no set
date for it yet, so please don't ask.

The HTML mechanism is much more flexible than you make it out to be. You
can fully customize the output View, allowing you to change the columns
shown, their width, their sequence, etc. You can customize the fonts used
for all the various aspects, selecting the styles to use (color and size
need to be added). And you can customize what information is/isn't included
in the HTML output.

So please explain what more you want added...

Thanks, Rob

As I said in my original entry, you cannot change the style of the tables themselves, most annoyingly the two cell header table which holds 'Xpts Army - list name here' and the 'option footnotes' table at the bottom unless you go in and manually edit afterwards. With just the default settings the topmost table doesn't look too bad but forces you to keep things very clipped to keep it from stacking up, but the option list at the bottom can look horrible because of the way it's split perfectly down the middle. You end up having one or two words on the left and sometimes huge boxes of text on the right.

All the content is there, sure. You can tweak the itsybitsy parts (font, column width), sure. It's inflexible big picture layout that I'm hoping gets changed.

OK, now I understand. The way you originally referred to the "style", I incorrectly interpreted it as font styles (e.g. italics), hence my confusion.

The data file author can specify a separate, shorter name for the army within the data files. This shorter name is ONLY used within roster output, and that capability was added specifically to handle situations like you describe. Please contact the data file author and ask him to add a shorter name for this purpose.

I thought the option footnotes issue was corrected in V3.0b, but a quick look indicates that it wasn't. That means it was reported and fixed shortly after release of V3.0b. It's been dealt with in V3.1, so this won't be an issue any longer.

So the two major things that you identify as issues will definitely be addressed in V3.1. What else did you have in mind?
