AB problem

I just downloaded the most recent update for 40k, and whenever I try to load it i get:The data files could not be loaded due to the following errors:

Cannot create core run-time file:
c:\program files\armybuilderex\Data\AB40k5\core.abz

Any advice?

Did you install Army Builder to the Program Files directory under windows Vista? If so, run it as administrator and it should work properly.

Thanks a lot. I had the same problem and it is working now

My system is:
Windows 7, 64bit
ArmyBuilder 3.2a
Warhammer 40k, 5Edi, V1.4

im using window XP and after click "yes" for the 3.2 update through the Army Builder software, nothing happens.

is there a way to manually download and install the update?

i found the .exe inside the downloads folder in Army Builder software, but executing it only resulted in "non valid windows file" message.

you can download Army Builder from Lone Wolf's website and install it. If I remember correctly I had the same problem but after I deleted the exe and tried to update it again it worked.

the annoying thing is i can't access Lone Wolf's website.

I keep getting a server timed out message.

Deleting the .exe in the downloads folder doesn't work either.

UPDATE:

Apparently the LWD website is down and probably a bug with the in-software update also prevents me from getting the update. Although it is a "Vista" problem, I'm running XP.

Is it possible for LWD to provide a link to the 3.2 upgrade through its forums instead?

The website is working perfectly and has been working smoothly for a *long* time now. The site is hosted with a major provider with redundant connections and fat data pipes. We do this to ensure maximum availability. If you are having problems accessing the website on a sustained basis, then something is wrong with your system's configuration. Have you checked your firewall? How about your internet security settings for blocks?

If you are unable to successfully access the updates from your computer, then something in your configuration is blocking access. That could be the firewall or some other internet security software you have installed.

If the V3.2 update is being retrieved successfully and not being properly installed, it means that something in your configuration is blocking the installation. Vista has a nasty habit of blocking the installer from running properly on a small percentage of systems. Under XP, the problem is going to be due to an anti-virus product or an internet security tool that is "protecting" you by blocking AB's attempt to update itself.

One possible issue is that you are performing the installation with insufficient privileges. Try launching V3.1 by right-clicking on the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. This should help to bypass privilege issues, although it won't help at all if you have a security setting that is blocking AB's ability to install the update.

i found the .exe inside the downloads folder in Army Builder software, but executing it only resulted in "non valid windows file" message.

That message implies that either the download was corrupted or you have something on your computer "keeping you safe" by rendering the AB installer unable to run. If it's the latter, you'll need to properly re-configure your system to allow AB to run.
