Yes, after much complaining and gnashing of teeth I've got the new 40K
files finished. This week, changes include:

All armies:
AB now lets you take multiple detachments a bit.

All Space Marine armies:
If you include any characters, you can now include the new Emperor's
Champion as a child unit of them. This needs to be done because he
doesn't take up an HQ slot (silly rule), and doesn't mean he's attached
to them in any way.

Added Codex: Craftworld Eldar.

Orks:
Taking a Bionic Bonce then 'Eavy Armour now gives you the same armour
save as taking 'Eavy Armour, then a Bionic Bonce.
Added an 'Always strikes last in close combat' note to the Power Klaw.
A Warboss may now take a Trukk without taking a bodyguard.
Clarified the Bionik Arm description.

Space Wolves:
Wolf Guard leaders now get charged only 5 points for Terminator Armour.
Scouts now get charged 10 points for Power Weapons.
Added the Campaign Force Tracker mode to the 'Space Wolves with Wolf
Guard' army.

Catachans:
Sly Marbo now counts against the maximum number of Snipers you can have.
Deathworld Sentinel units can no longer have illegal numbers of
sentinels in them.

Dark Eldar:
Added the Campaign Force Tracker mode.

Dark Angels:
Let Tactical Squads have more than 8 models if they include a Veteran
Sergeant.

Craftworld Eldar:
Corrected the Star Cannon to be Heavy 3.

Imperial Guard:
Corrected the cost of Deathworld Veteran heavy weapon squads.

Chaos:
Thousand Sons are possessed by a Greater Daemon on a 4+ rather than a 6,
as used to be stated.
Cypher's notes were corrected.

Space Marines:
Blind Grenades now cost the correct amount for Bikers.

Eldar:
Storm Squads can now take Blind Grenades.

Sisters of Battle:
Let all Veteran Sister Superiors take more than 1 bit of Wargear.
Corrected the stats of the Veteran Celestian Superior.

Citadel Journal Tanks:
Deleted the Baneblade, as I hadn't finished it. It'll return someday
when I have enough time to do it (and not, e.g., when I'm taking an
8-hour train ride the next day).

To answer the questions some people are bound to ask, no I don't know
when I'll have the Codex: Armageddon files done, but it won't be before
Army Builder II (hooray!) is released. Unless something goes
horrifically wrong, this will probably be the last set of datafiles
released for AB1, because I've now got to put them through the Convert-
O-Matic(tm) to get all the exciting new stuff in AB2 working - for
example, Space Wolves will have proper HQ units, vehicles won't have a
long list of stats they don't use (like Wounds, Toughness, etc.) and,
most importantly for me, it'll be a lot easier to do things. :)

The Red Pattern files are, as always, in the Army Builder section of
http://www.skrill.org/ and the Files section of the ab-files@egroups.com
list. Have a great one...

I imported the new 40k Red data files and my saved rosters are all reporting
invalid data while reading file.

After thinking about it, I guess I can understand why this might be so, but
it was a bit unexpected so I thought I'd ask just in case it is another
"operator error" on my part.

Undaunted, I just imported the 40K White files again and my saved rosters
are still reporting invalid data while reading file. This is bothersome.

I even tried deleting all .40k files before importing the White files but I
got the same result.

I'm beginning to panic here! Is there a way out of this predicament?

Thanks,

Brad

Ok, I've heard of the Chi files, White files and now Red files. Can
anybody explain to me the difference? And which ones should I be using?

Thanks.

Colen used to use Greek letters for the versions of the 40k files. Chi was
followed by Psi and Omega which is the last Greek letter, so he had to
come up with something new. He chose colours starting with White - just to
be different. Red is the next colour in the spectrum and I assume he'll
choose something between red and yellow for the next version.

You can use whichever one you want. Usually the latest one is the most
complete and therefore the best to use.

Russell.

I'm assuming you used White to make the rosters in the first place?
Hmm... unless AB actually changes rosters it can't read in, I can't see
why they shouldn't work as they used to. :(

I'm not entirely sure what AB does when it saves things. However, I'm
afraid that importing new files will often make your old saved rosters
not work, because things have been changed. :( I'm going to attempt to
make this stop happening in future.

Unless you've made a comedy mistake and were actually using an older
version to make the files, I've got no idea why they won't load. You'll
probably have to re-enter all the data :( Sorry :(
