Hello,

I have an idea for a change to CV that I'd like to see, but as it's
relatively radical I think it would be a good idea to see if others thing
it's worthwhile too.

Basically, I think that the ordering of the list of items available for
filtering (eg Release/Set, Color, Type) should be dynamic, with the most
recently used items appearing at the top.

Eg., if you last filtered on Type, then the next time you opened the filter
dialog you'd see Type at the top of the list.

Note, I'm not proposing that the lists *within* each item be sorted in the
same way (although I can see the merits of that too :)

My rationale is that when working with CV I tend to use the same filters
over and over, and having these at the top of the list would save me
scrolling down to the bottom of the list where Release/Set and Type are.

Comments?

R.

Sounds like a worthwhile feature. It should be user selectable to be
static/dynamic.

Asking a program to be 'smart' is very much in the eye of the beholder; my
'smart' might be very different to your 'smart', and, indeed, what I think
of as 'smart' might annoy you immensely. (See also: Microsoft Office.)
Also, in the interests of consistency, if we do this in one place (the
filter mechanism) it also creates an expectation for it to be done
everywhere else, which turns it in to a lot of work for us. You mentioned
an on/off switch for it in another post, which is good, as it means I don't
have to tell you here about how confusing it would be to new users and thus
how it would need an on/off switch. :)

What about, instead of the 'smart' method you propose, we add an "up" arrow
to every group in the list of tags? If you want that group to go first, hit
the up arrow, and it jumps to the top of the list. Groups that have been
marked in this way would appear before all other tag groups, so you could
add the half-dozen groups you use most to the 'priority' list and have them
appear first.

Thanks,

This also is a good idea. I'll go for either way.
