2.3 Drawbacks Calculations

I see that the new calculations for Drawbacks for Powers in subtracted from the total Power Cost instead of "added" to the Drawbacks pool. This limits the availability of using the Points gained through Drawbacks in additional Traits.

Is there any way to go back to the previous way Drawback calculations were made?

Thanks :D

Not according to the M&M rules. Doing it the 2.3 way is how it is supposed to work, so that Alternate Powers are calculated properly.

Besides, all the points come from the same place, so how does subtracting fewer points from the pool leave you with less points for other things than adding the points to the pool?

Having a Drawback on a Power doesn't affect the cost of an Alternate Power.

Mostly this happens with Container Powers - If you have Alternate Form 10 with 50 Points and a 1 Point Power Loss Drawback. Where are you going to put the 1 Point when you've got 2 or more Point Powers? Into an Alternate Power? That seems like min/maxing to me. The "benefit" of a Drawback is using the gained Points elsewhere.

How much an Alternate Power or Array Power costs is always relevant.

Power Drawbacks subtract from a Power's cost the same way Power Feats add to a Power's cost. That's not min/maxing, that how it's supposed to work.
