And now we know......

This may have just solved importing all of 5e mechanics stuff for me; just link to the item/monster page, etc. on the digital tools.

From what I remember WoTC tried to do something digital for 3rd edition, and then tried again for 4th. I suspect that their attempt at something for fifth will be just as successful.

Hmmm, we will have to wait and see. WOTC track record is dismal with digital tools. As Strategon pointed out, they have tried to provide digital tool since 3rd edition and failed every time (some may argue 4th ed eventually got there). However, if they do manage to implement a good tool for 5th ed it will be interesting to see how that effects LWD subscriptions once cloud service is finally up and running. The brief glimpses we got from the video look very professional and I bet it's all web based.

There is a whole thread over on EnWorld about the D&D digital tools. Done by third party Curse? I think?

Supposed to be available offline as well. Sounds like SRD will be free with some sort of cost for additional content, if I have understood the commentary correctly.

Yeah this is 3rd party. Being done by Curse. Those guys who put out software to install WOW and Minecraft mods. They know what they are doing and look like they are going to hit the ground running. This looks to be a planned hype train starting to steam roll towards release.

Be aware that they have advised its going to cost to unlock content and will have a subscription model if you want to unlock more character slots and access homebrew content.

LWD have announced the SRD is coming. So you will have access to quite a bit of the mechanics. I wouldn't even be trying to do that at this stage.
