A wealth of new resources are now available for D&D players. Over 100 monsters from the SRD and the tactical console await your command in the latest Hero Lab update for the D&D 5th Edition SRD. These invaluable additions let DMs quickly create NPCs and smoothly run virtually any encounter. But that’s not all! The user community just released a free “Community Pack” that includes almost everything from the Player’s Handbook and other supplements. All the mechanics for backgrounds, class options, feats, and more are immediately available – just drop them in!
Read on for further details on these new options! Over 100 Monsters A monstrous menagerie is ready to deploy. The first wave of monsters from the official SRD can be dropped into encounters and instantly used to build fearsome NPCs. Over 100 monsters await your orders, ranging from sneaky goblins to iconic dragons. It’s all included with the D&D 5th Edition SRD game system support for Hero Lab. Note: The remaining monsters from the SRD will arrive in early March, along with the highly-anticipated Encounter Builder and Monster Builder. Tactical Console Hero Lab doesn’t stop at character creation. Now that you’ve prepared your monsters, seamlessly manage encounters between PCs and enemies with the integrated Tactical Console. Review who has and hasn’t acted, initiative scores, readied actions, and more. Track damage and healing, and easily remove vanquished foes from the combat. It’s also a great quick-reference on the PCs outside of combat. Everything you need is at your fingertips in Hero Lab! Community Packs The D&D 5th Edition SRD is a subset of the entire set of rulebooks, so the Hero Lab data files can’t include everything players may want. The Hero Lab user community just changed all that! The just-released D&D 5E Community Pack lets you fill in the holes and go beyond the limits of the SRD. Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers, this free add-on includes all backgrounds, class options, feats, and much more from the Player’s Handbook and other official D&D sources! And users can drop it into Hero Lab with a few quick steps. To get it now, visit this thread! Note: The D&D 5th Edition SRD game system in Hero Lab is limited to the content published in the official SRD, and the SRD omits various options from the assorted rulebooks. Using the power and extensibility provided by the Hero Lab Editor, the user community has implemented the majority of the content that’s not in the SRD and made it available to all users. The caveat with the Community Pack is that portions of descriptive text are often paraphrased (and sometimes omitted) to ensure the data files are legally sound. All the mechanics are fully implemented, so everything behaves the way you expect for your character, and you can always refer to the rulebooks for the official language used. A huge “Thank You!” to the volunteer community members that put this package together! Find Out More! You’ll also find a number of other changes and bug fixes in this update. A full list of the changes is included in this thread. To learn more about D&D 5th Edition SRD support in Hero Lab, or to pick it up for your games, head over to our website! I noticed the Pathfinder module(s) support creating custom races. Is there any plan to implement this into 5e?

Is there a way to track additional resources or circumstantial bonuses from spells? On the pathfinder side you can add bless to a number of characters in the tactical console, just wondering if anything similar will be coming to the 5e side. I know it would be a little different as bless is not a fixed bonus in 5e, or adding scrolls as a tracked resource so once they are used the bonuses/penalties can be applied appropriately.

There doesn't seem to be a way to enter a familiar (via the find familiar spell ritual) into hero lab. Is there something I'm missing?

After you add the 'Find Familiar' spell to your spellbook, you should see a "Add a Familiar" below your Spells Prepared section on the "<class> spells" tab.
