How do I turn on a weapon's flaming ability?

I have a super cool sword with the flaming ability and the flaming burst ability. I have added these abilities to the weapon, but do not see a way to "turn on" the special ability when in combat, specifically the flaming ability which grants 1d6 of additional damage with a successful hit. I have tried several things but nothing seems to work . . .

Help?

So, I am fairly new to Hero Lab. If I understand correctly, you have created a data file that I add on to my existing edition of Hero Lab that will allow me to add the bonus? I've never done this before, adding data files that others create. And I'm in the middle of combat RIGHT NOW, so I don't really have time to figure it out at present. But I will look into it once things cool down . . .

And, thanks.

Well, that was easy. Downloaded the file and added it to my data folder. Restarted Hero Lab. My weapon has a unique name, which I've added as a Custom Item Name. Does this preclude me adding "the wording of +1d6 next to a weapon?" I don't see a way to add wording in a way that will allow me to activate the ability . . .

Nope it will still work just fine.

Know I sent you a PM but going to duplicate the answer here also so future readers have it also. ;)

My addon has its own "Source" which needs to be turned on. From inside of HL press "ctrl+K" to display the "Configure Your Hero" window.

In the list should now be a source you can check mark called "ShadowChemosh's Adjustments". Click it on.

Then go to the "Adjust" tab and add an "Other Adjustment". Scroll down to "Weapon: Fire Dmg". Once added select the weapon you would like to have +1d6 fire appear with.

Hope that helps.... :)

It seems straight-up silly that we have to use an add-on to do this. Shouldn't Hero Lab display weapon properties on its own? If I add a flaming weapon, I want to see that +1d6 fire damage in the weapon damage area -- I don't want to have to remember to turn it on, and I ESPECIALLY don't want to have to hunt for community add-ons to enable core rules.

Is there a reason for this? Is there a single scenario in which one would not want their flame to be active? If it's not displayed in the box by default, there are a lot of players I know who are going to forget to add it.

I am curious, what the answer for this was. What caused HL to not have a core mechanic in the core files?

Hm. The lack of response is not encouraging.
Because HL does this. Go add a longsword with Flaming property and see what it shows. Worth checking to see what HL does before saying no response to an issue. :)

Actually have found LW does a fantastic job adding new features to Pathfinder. And saying a software package from v1.0 should do everything under the sun is crazy. The software packages grow over time and LW has shown that they listen to the community and continually add new rich features with releases. And they do it all for free actually.

The fact that we now have situational modifiers mechanics working in HL is again a sweet feature that was added to the Core mechanics of Pathfinder.
