Adventure Path Monsters (Quote from Aaron)

In general, all player content from an adventure path is added to HL for free. That includes magic items, prestige classes, gear, familiars and so on. For Rise of the Runelord's re-release we also added the monsters from the bestiary, since it was kind of its own special book. In general though, we don't make the monsters from the APs.

Aaron,
May I ask why you do not add the monsters from the AP's at all? I really want to have that done and yes I know about the player based ones and do use them but it would just be so much nicer if Lone Wolf did this and it was official.

If anything why not do the monsters as a premium add-on that customers can purchase.. and do each Adventure Path as a set and charge some sort of price like $4.99 or some such for the entire Adventure Path?

Time - it adds 5-7 monsters to the workload every month, and there's currently hundreds of monsters to add in order to bring things up-to-date.

There's so many other books coming out from Paizo (especially right now, during convention season) and so many other things we're working on that we have not had the time to schedule the catch-up project, or been ready to commit to the monthly time requirement.

Also, check out one of Paizo's fall releases:

A significant number of those are likely to have started as adventure path monsters.

Considering the upcoming release, I agree, it wouldn't make much sense to go back and address the monsters from already published Adventure Paths.

However, I will concur with Nikmal that this is something that I would be willing to pay for, especially with new Adventure Paths as they come out.

And yes, it's more work, but it's also likely to be work you won't have to do later when they collect their critters into another bestiary.

I didn't say anything about not doing it, but I think we ought to see that upcoming book before we can make any decisions about the catch-up project, so that we can make a count of how many monsters it will involve.

So we might here some news after the Inner Sea bestiary then? I would REALLY love to see this come to fruition so that it would make life SO much easier since I use the adventure paths almost exclusively. Being able to pay for the Adventure Path bestiaries would be great! :)

FYI the bestiaries from the Adventure Paths are included in the community bestiary

As I mentioned in my original post above. I knew this sir and utilize them all the time. I truly appreciate them but I would rather have the official version though from the AP's and have them be such that they are not made to fit in to Hero Labs Pathfinder but that they are created by lone wolf WITH the rules and tools they have and are not boot strapped to work with-in the rules.

Apart from the main source code of the Hero lab main program the community has access to all the tools to add datasets. The only difference is the official datasets are packaged and write protected.

Also almost all the monsters are easily done with the existing tools. There have been a few monsters which have special abilities that are difficult to make without the Wolf Lair wizards adding abilities to the main code. For example, creatures with monster HD but have the abilities of a class (such as the Old Man, The Herald of Irori) or with new abilities like the Double Weapon Mastery ability of the Atamahuta Oni.

Yep totally correct. The only thing off the top of my head LW can do we can't is Macros but everything is doable. Oh and a better standard for the naming convention of the Unique ID's.

Also the fact that some of the editors for the Community you will note have the "Data File Contributor" tag under their name. This means stuff they have done has been put into data sets officially.

So why I am not against LW doing AP stuff just wanted to add that I think allot of the community stuff is going to be *Really* close to what LW would put out is all. :)
