Adding Archtypes?

Is there some reason that in NPC mode I can't add Archtypes after first level.?Many time I just forget to add them until I've already built most of the NPC. Then I have to go back, strip off all the levels add the Archtype and then re-add the levels. It's a bit of a pain.

For that matter it would be nice to add and remove Archtype's on PC's. Sometimes when I'm building a PC that starts out at a higher level it would be nice to play with Archtype options without having to strip the PC down to 1st level to play with the archtypes. Though if I could do it in NPC mode I guess I could just switch the PC into NPC mode to play with the Archtypes and then put it back into PC mode when I'm ready to use it.

If you don't leave "Only Valid Items" selected at the top of the list when you exit the archetypes list - if you choose to show "Everything", then on the next character you open, you'll see the list of archetypes, regardless of whether your character is still at first level.

I can see all the options I can only add options at 1st level. I want to be able to add options POST 1st level. Most of the PC's I build don't start at 1st. Epecially when I'm DMing and want to build NPC baddies.

Yup, I'm the jerk here. Sorry about that. I read your post and was in a hurry to get out the door. I'm sorry.

I can see the whole list, but since all options were grayed out it didn't occur to me that I could select them anyway! I if I pick "legal" ones for my build I shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for the work around. Sorry for the hassle.

Just an FYI but 99% of the "red error messages" in HL are just warnings actually. Their is very little hard coded to stop you from doing stuff that is invalid.

So in example if I want to give 5 feats to a level 1 character HL will let you and those feats will work. If you add a feat that you don't meet the requirements for the feat still works.

Its actually nice that it lets you do this as sometimes I do break rules for my NPCs and its nice that it lets you do this.
