Purchasing Question: Just so I have it Straight

Ok so I am going to possibly pick up HeroLab, and I want it for 4th Ed DND. Now, I know it says I get one Data Package, but from what I can tell you gotta have a DND Insider Account to get the data. Which is fine.

I want to make sure however, that if I purchase a license I can get the mechanical information for 4E, cause on the page for 4E it says that the mechanical data is part of the Authoring package.

So, can I choose 4E as my free game package, and if so what do I get exactly?

The 4e files are actually one of the examples that comes with the Authoring Kit - so, by choosing the Authoring Kit as the free game system that came with your purchase, you'll be able to use 4e, Savage Worlds, and any game systems that other users create using the authoring kit.

So if I want to do stuff with 4th Edition I should choose the Authoring Kit as my free game system?

I happen to be interested in Savage Worlds as well oddly enough.

What do you mean by example exactly? Are things missing from the files?

The authoring kit is our set of tools that people can use to create game systems in Hero Lab that we don't offer. So, we include two complete RPGs, 4e and Savage worlds, as the examples of what you can make with the kit (all of the underlying code for those game systems is available for viewing, in case a user realizes "this mechanic in my game system is just like the way 4e handles X - the user can study the 4e files and copy the mechanism from that).

Gotcha. So its like gettimg 2 games in 1. I assume that skills edges and the like are not present for the Savage Worlds stuff or is it included?
