3.7a Problems

I've added the Dragonrider from SGG and Tome of Secrets Ratkin and Saurian from the community datasets and (after a few hiccups with the Dragonrider) all was well......until I upgraded to 3.7a and I get a whole host of 'critical information' missing errors and once again, the SGG/Dragonrider option is missing from the Configure Your Hero window.

I've tried re-importing/inserting them into the Pathfinder Data Folder but to no effect. How do I fix it and what's the secret to a trouble free upgrade in the future?

Can you give more specific error messages. I have the SGG Dragonrider and it compiles perfectly fine under all versions of HL including 3.7a.

The mistake many make is that if you get ANY errors when starting the pathfinder data set HL goes into safe mode and does NOT load any .user files. This means if you try and open up a character file that uses the SGG Dragonrider then it won't work as nothing from the SGG data set got loaded.

I also have almost all the .user files from d20pfsrd loaded in its own environment and I tested 3.7a this last weekend without any issues. So not saying you don't have issues but I try and look for new ones that show up during HL upgrades.

So any copy/paste of errors or feel free to just post images of the errors you are getting. That will help allot in finding the issues.

anyway: when loading Pathfinder I get this:

File: PFRPG_SGG_Dragonrider.user(line 391) - Thing - Duplicate record encountered ('pS2wAcid')

When I open a character who uses a Tome of Secrets race (Suarian) I get

Errors were encounter when loading the saved portfolio. A record can be found in.....blah blah blah

One or more required sources are not accessable ofr hero 'Cyluss'. Subsequent errors may be the result of the problem.

Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'TomeOfSecr'
Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'pSGG'
Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'sggDragRid'
Pick 'rSaurian' has been orphaned due to missing thing in batch '355'
Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'TomeOfSecr'
Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'pSGG'
Critical information not found in data files: Source volume 'sggDragRid'

Right click on the error messages to copy them to the clipboard so you can paste them here.

Ug I know what this is actually. Opps. I left in an adjustment that I meant to take out. You must also have my Adjustment .user file and the two are clashing.

To fix this do the following:
1) Tools->Start Editor.
2) File->Open
-PFRPG_SGG_Dragonrider.user
3) Go to the "Adjustment" tab.
4) Click on pS2wAcid - should be the only one in that tab.
5) The blue button on bottom is DELETE. Press it and say OK.
6) File->Save

Close down HL and restart HL.

You should be good after that.

P.S. - I will be sending a new version to Owen so this won't be happening to others. Copy/Paste is not always one friend.
